PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
Brother Hibernians,
This is the season. Finally, the Parade Season has returned. The first Parade in which
our Division will be marching will be this Sunday, March 6th. It will take place in Mineola and
steps off at 1pm. We will assemble around 12:30pm in the parking lot by the Court Houses
behind Old Country Road. Division 14 will be marching under the Nassau County Board Banner.
After the Parade all are welcome at the Irish American Center on Willis Avenue for a small fee.
Here's hoping we can have a good showing and that the weather turns out fine.
Our Division's Parade and Mass in Rockville Centre will be taking place on Saturday,
March 19th. At the 9 am Mass at St. Agnes Cathedral, we will lead the procession into the
Cathedral carrying our St. Patrick's Banner and flags. I hope we will have a nice turnout of
Division members present at the Mass. The Parade itself will step off at about 12 noon. We will
assemble on Sunrise Hwy. and Long Beach Rd. We usually meet by the rose-colored sign,
which is usually in the middle of the parking lot. I will be there with the flags and the banners.
We will need 7 members to help carry the flags and banners. Feel free to bring sons or
grandsons, if they are able to help out.
Don’t forget that the Division will also be marching with the County in NYC on March
17 and in Glen Cove on March 20. More details can be found in this newsletter. In addition to all
the other local parades around Long Island, the St. Patrick’s Parade in Wantagh will also be
held on Sunday, March 20th.
Because St. Patrick's Day falls on the third Thursday of the month, we have moved
our meeting night to Thursday, March 10th at the VFW Merrick Rd in Lynbrook. The meeting
will start at 8pm. Now that things have improved with the virus, I hope more of you can attend
our meetings. I need your support to keep Division 14 going in the right direction. As they say,
the more, the merrier.
Happy St. Patrick’s Day to you and your families,
Joseph R. Gavin
Brothers,
Division 14's pipe band, Glor na nGael, will be marching in the St. Patrick's Day Parade in New York City on March 17th. We have reserved a bus to take us in to Manhattan and back and we have seats available for those who are interested. We will leave the VFW around 10:30 am to head into the city and the bus will drop us off at 46th and 6th Ave. We will then meet up with the bus after the parade on the upper east side and head back to Long Island. We typically arrive back in Lynbrook at 6:00 pm. If you would like to join us, the cost is $25 per person which includes sandwiches and drinks on the bus. We will raffle off a bunch of items on the bus as well. It is always a fun trip.
If you would like us to hold a spot, let me know. Thanks,

Brother Hibernians,
We were finally able to have our FFAI RAFFLE drawing on Sunday, February 6th at Kitty
Ohara’s in Baldwin. I would like to thank all our Brothers and Sisters, who participated in the
Raffle. Unfortunately, no one from Division 14 was a winner. A patron from Kitty's O’Hara’s was
the winner of the $500 prize. Thanks to those members who were able to attend the drawing. A
special thanks to Jim Henry, who sold about $120 worth chances at Kitty's O’Hara’s.
As of now with the variant numbers very low, our next meeting on February 17 will be in person
at the VFW Merrick Rd in Lynbrook at 8pm. We will be discussing the upcoming Parade
Season, particularly the Rockville Centre Parade, which will be held on Saturday March 19th at
noon. As the Division is always an integral part of the 9am pre-Parade Mass at St. Agnes
Cathedral, I urge all brothers to please make an effort to attend. We will march into the
Cathedral carrying the St. Patrick's Banner and the other flags. We will meet outside the
Cathedral between 8:30 and 8:45am. I will have further details as to where we will meet to line
up for the Parade. The Division is also scheduled to participate in the Mineola Parade on March
6 and the Glen Cove AOH Parade on March 20. Details can be found in this newsletter. After
two years of forced “hibernation”, I hope you’re able to come out to show your support for your
Irish culture at the various parades scheduled in March.
Please note, that because our scheduled March meeting falls on St. Patrick's Day, we have
decided to move it to Thursday, March 10. Also, don’t forget to get your dues payments in,
either by mail or at a meeting.
