It’s always nice to have former Pony Club students return for a visit, especially when work and city life don’t allow for extra riding time. So glad Clarc could give Adelin Barstow a special schoolmaster experience. 🐎

We had a super day at our dressage/para-dressage schooling show Saturday, August 1. Judge Susanne Winslade was able to offer feedback to riders in a ride-review-ride format.

Tracy Griffith and April Mauro kicked off the day with their entertaining musical freestyle to “Forever in Blue Jeans”. They have practiced for weeks under the tutelage of coach Mary Jordan. It was a real crowd pleaser! We welcomed Grade 5 para-dressage rider Maggie Slobodo from NH riding Carlisle’s mount Crimson & Clover. Maggie is age 12 and a competitor beyond her years. Her future is bright! Next up was Daniel Olley-Williams who rode a beautifully precise Grade 3 Para test on Carlisle’s Simon Sez. His trajectory also shoots skyward. And new to showing was Pony Clubber Jesse Bartlett riding Carlisle’s Rudy for an educational and supportive introduction to dressage.

Thank you to everyone who participated and the families and friends who came out to support their riders for a fun community day.

Summer wouldn’t be complete without the revival of the Pony Club Sleepover! Five pony club members, Eowyn, Elena, Stella, Jesse, and Cheyenne, gathered Thursday afternoon for their group lesson to stay overnight and stretch the fun of horse and farm time together. After pizza they helped with night feed, painted jumps, stargazed, and woke up to morning chores and farm breakfast (yes, lots of eggs!).

Thank you PC Instructors Lindsay and Stephanie for bringing back this fun tradition.

This past week was one for the memory books. It was a jam packed 5-day summer camp with lots of riding and horse time, arts and crafts, barn chores, and plenty of games and silliness to go around. The kids prepped all week for the highly-anticipated arrival of two miniature horses, Toast and Muffin, who arrived Friday to settle into their new home at Carlisle Academy.

Huge thanks to all the families who joined the fun, our partners at Kennebunk Parks and Recreation, Cat Sullivan and all the Carlisle staff and pony club helpers for keeping the horses and campers on track, guest artist appearances, and Hayley Holzhacker and her non-profit organization Impact Horse for sharing Toast and Muffin with us. Exciting days ahead!
