It is Giving Tuesday- a day created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. I cannot think of a more appropriate day to make this post. I have known the Harris family for more than 35 years - as friends, as friends we consider family, as fellow artists, as business associates, and so much more. In that time I can honestly say they have been one of the most giving families I have had the honor to know. It is heartwarming to see donations being made by people who have been on the receiving end of the Harris' generosity now giving back to help them continue their mission.
The Harris Conservatory provides so much good in our community- a top of the line dance studio where students are not only taught to excel in the fine art of a variety of styles, but are offered opportunities to share their talents with the community, take part in projects that benefit others, and are encouraged to respect and support everyone they work with. In the vision of the founders the Conservatory also provides a home for other arts - Kirby Kidz Theatre Program, Dragon Tale Karate Dojo for the Martial Arts, Pat Temple Guitar Studio, Connemara Irish Step Dancing.
For the past 13 years it has been the home of my music studio- Ripple Effect Music Studio. I say without hesitation that choosing the Harris Conservatory as the home for my studio was one of the best decisions I have ever made. The idea of taking this old school building and giving it new life as a conservatory for the arts was a genius vision.
To walk through the halls and experience the excitement of students participating in the fine and performing arts - beyond words.
