MEETING TIME HAS CHANGED!

The St. James Parish Retired Teachers will meet on Thursday, September 10, 2026. PLEASE NOTE THE NEW MEETING TIME: registration begins at 11:00 a.m., followed by the meeting at 11:30 a.m. at the newly renovated SJP School Board Public Relations Building.
**New retirees…. teachers, para-professionals, custodians, bus drivers, secretaries, food service workers, administrators and central office personnel from the St. James Parish School System will be recognized at this meeting and are invited to join the association. Additional details will be shared via email, newspaper and social media.

On August 11, I attended the St. John the Baptist Parish Retired Teachers meeting at the Lloyd B. Johnson Law Enforcement Training Center in LaPlace. Senator Ed Price presented good information for the retirees. The meeting and food were excellent! Afterward, Sheriff Mike Tregre and Major Charles “Chip” Wale led a tour of the impressive facility, which hosts law enforcement training from across Louisiana and the nation. I highly recommend scheduling a tour!
As President of the St. James Parish RTA, it was a pleasure to visit the St. John RTA. Thank you to President Dolores Sorapuru, the St. John the Baptist Parish Retired Teachers Association, Sheriff Mike Tregre, and Major “Chip” Wale for their hospitality.
