Meet Zakiyyah Aquil, an assistant teacher in a Robeson County NC Pre-K classroom who knows just how much early educators matter. 💚

With her Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education, recognition as the Robeson County Partnership for Children's Child Care Provider of the Year and selection as Shining Stars Preschool's 2024/2025 Assistant Teacher of the Year, Zakiyyah has plenty to be proud of.

Despite her love for teaching, Zakiyyah is open about the challenges. "This is a great field, but it is not a profitable one," she said. "I have to work two jobs just to make ends meet. It's a strain, especially when you are trying to get more education. WAGE$ is important because it makes me feel seen. We need help and WAGE$ offers that support."

Our classrooms were filled with smiles, excitement, new friends, and lots of fun as everyone settled into a brand-new year of learning.

From the first hugs to the first activities, it was the perfect start to what we know will be an AMAZING year! 📚✨

🦖🚀 “You’ve Got a Friend in Me at Kids Academy!” 💜✏️ Our teachers and families gave 100% to our Toy Story theme. Their classroom doors, matching shirts, and contagious smiles were the best way to start an amazing school year! 😃 🤠

The weather is soo nice, so our 3&4 year olds headed outside for a little nature walk around Kids Academy!

They had so much fun exploring their surroundings and collecting sticks, leaves, and other treasures they discovered along the way. 🌿🍂

And, of course, we couldn’t forget about our very special school pet! 🐰❤️ Our wild bunny, Ruby, has become a favorite around here, so the children made sure to leave some food out for her, too!

We love watching our little learners explore, observe, and care for the world around them. Sometimes the best classroom is right outside our door! 🌎🍃💚

🦗 BREAKING NEWS FROM THE PLAYGROUND! 😂

Within seconds, we had a whole team of little scientists gathered around for an important investigation. 🔍🤣

Who needs a zoo when you have a playground?! 😂🦗

Our little explorers are always learning that sometimes the BEST lessons are the ones that hop right in front of you! 💚

Ready, Set, Learn!

Tuesday, September 8th will be a special day at Kids Academy! We can’t wait to welcome ALL of our new Pre-K students. ✏️🦖🤠

“You’ve Got a Friend in ME” is our theme for this year. Help us kick off the school year with your Toy Story outfits, shirts, hats, and gear!

We will have special guest greeting you Tuesday morning, special snacks, music, photo ops, and more!
