A BROKEN HEART AND A CONTRITE SPIRIT

In Psalm 51:17 and Psalm 34:18, the Word of God says, that God will not despise a broken heart and a contrite spirit.

Not everyone reading this report will understand what I am trying to express; but countless others will, and I believe that they, like me, long for this to continually be our way of life.

The Word of God tells us that when Zion travails, sons and daughters are born into the Kingdom of God. In John 11:35, we are told that "Jesus wept." He was weeping over the city of Jerusalem and the spiritual condition that prevailed in that city. Living in a world that is so far away from God, so full of sin, the Christian, through much prayer and fasting and being separated unto God, must reach the place where we can be broken and believe God to save many.

This is not a popular position in this generation of the Church. But consider these two verses from the prophet Isaiah. "For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones." (Isaiah 57:15) "For all those things hath mine hand made, and all those things have been, saith the LORD: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word." (Isaiah 66:2)
