π₯π Learning to Be Farm Fire Ready! ππ₯
Our students didnβt just talk about fire safety β they experienced it!
Today, 7 of our FFA classes learned from the U.S. Forest Service and our local Fire Department about what it takes to prevent, respond to, and safely manage fires.
π² Students worked through a real wildfire scenario based on a fire that happened right here in our community.οΏ½π₯ They identified firefighting tools, learned how fire lines are created, and watched a controlled fire demonstration.οΏ½π¦ Students practiced using a water hose to stop a controlled fire.οΏ½π They explored a fire truck, its equipment, compartments, and the importance of proper PPE.οΏ½π§― They also got hands-on practice using fire extinguishers to put out controlled fires.
Most importantly, students learned that fire safety is about more than knowing how to put out a fire. Itβs about recognizing hazards, making good decisions, knowing when to act, and knowing when itβs time to get out and call for help.
A HUGE thank you to the U.S. Forest Service and the City of Lumberton Fire Department for bringing real-world fire safety into our agricultural classrooms and giving our students an experience they wonβt soon forget! β€οΈπ
We are grateful for the men and women who protect our community every day β and for the opportunity to learn from them! π
