Taking things apart is great for sparking imagination and curiosity in toddlers.

Help them build their understanding of the world around them by providing open-ended toys that promote organizing, demolishing, and rebuilding, like sorting and matching games, building blocks, assembly, and STEM toys.

When children enjoy deconstructing things and putting them back together, it enhances their natural curiosity for how things go together and how they work. That’s why building blocks are so much fun!

Building blocks help develop hand-eye coordination, fine motor skills, spatial awareness, and reasoning through:

✅ Building towers, knocking them over, and rebuilding
✅ Creating animals or creatures, pulling them apart, and starting over
✅ Assembling buildings or obstacle courses piece-by-piece then taking them apart piece-by-piece
✅ And more!

Encourage their future potential for designing, building, or engineering by choosing toys that are safe to pull apart, and watch them enjoy the unrestricted freedom of diving into playtime and letting their imagination and curiosity take the lead without being interrupted or redirected.
