Doby's Mill Elementary School Enjoy a peek into the window of our world here at Doby's Mill Elementary! Catch the Wave!!

On August 7, 2002, Doby's Mill Elementary School, home of the "Dolphins," proudly opened its doors to 602 students, their parents, and to the Lugoff-Elgin community. Along with Glenn Huggins, Principal, and Ginger Catoe, Assistant Principal, 67 faculty and staff members embraced the challenges of opening a new school with eager and positive attitudes and joined together to "Catch the Wave" of excitement. In creating our own new identity, we strive to establish a safe, yet inspiring learning environment for the students who attend our school. Our goals and expectations will remain high; working together, our children can and will reap the rewards of "winning attitudes and visions of excellence!"

The 11th Annual Kershaw County Read-In, themed "Building a Community of Readers," was a smashing success! This year, Mrs. Proveaux's 2nd graders & Mrs. Hayden's 4th graders earned invitations to the Read-In by winning the September Reading Challenge, reading the most minutes in school that month. Participants in Kershaw County Library's Summer Reading Program were also invited. Many community members from all over Kershaw County joined in the fun and shared stories with younger readers.

Today, the 5th-grade Gardening Girls, who maintain our indoor hydroponic gardening system, went on a field trip, visiting two gardens in Camden to learn about ecosystems, plant care, and flower arrangement.

We are so thankful for community members who are eager to share their time, talents, and expertise with our students.

🤩 DME's first Dolly Parton 9-two-5 Day was SO MUCH FUN!

📚️ There was an all-day Book Swap, designed to get free books into as many children's hands as possible- a page right out of Dolly's book!

🌟👢🦋 Students and teachers came decked out in Dolly-themed tees, western wear, and butterflies, making it even more fabulous with sparkles and smiles.

🥰 Ms. Tate's children recognized staff members with "Give Like Dolly" love letters.

Everyone enjoyed a fun-filled day of learning! Thank you for your encouragement and participation.
