Williams Strength would like to congratulate Dr. Dean Boyd and Coach Marty Woolbright for being unanimously voted into the SCHSSCA Strength Coaches Hall of Fame.
Coach Boyd was Hartsville High School's first strength coach in 1987. He has been a major contributor in service and leadership to our association hosting many meets for years. Dr. Boyd was instrumental in bringing strength meets back to York County as the HBC. Dr. Boyd has been such a positive influence to athletes and coaches alike on many levels. Congrats Dr. Coach Boyd!
Coach Woolbright was one of the first coaches I encountered as a first year HS strength coach when I brought my athletes to the region strength meet at Gilbert HS put on by Coach Woolbright. He was a standout TE in the early 70’s for the Gamecocks (another reason to love him!) and was drafted by the Giants. His coaching career with stops at LRHS, Gilbert, Clover and Audrey Kell were filled with many successes and significant impacts made. His father, Cecil Woolbright, coached my wife in basketball and my college teammate in football at Chapin HS. His son, Coach Perry Woolbright has now returned home to Clover to carry on!
