Last Thursday, the K–5 Realignment Committee held its first meeting as part of Lufkin ISD’s ongoing effort to listen to and consider community input. The committee is made up of community members who participated in our previous community input meetings, along with district leaders, staff, and teachers.

It is important to emphasize that this committee is not developing or planning a realignment plan. Instead, its role is to carefully review the concerns, priorities, and considerations shared by our community through surveys and input sessions. The committee will evaluate this feedback and use it to help inform the district’s understanding of what matters most to our students, families, staff, and community.

We appreciate the time, perspectives, and commitment of everyone serving on this committee as we work together to thoughtfully consider the future of Lufkin ISD.

El jueves pasado, el Comité de Reorganización de K–5 celebró su primera reunión como parte de los esfuerzos continuos de Lufkin ISD para escuchar y considerar las opiniones de nuestra comunidad. El comité está compuesto por miembros de la comunidad que participaron en nuestras reuniones anteriores de aportes comunitarios, junto con líderes del distrito, personal y maestros.

Es importante enfatizar que este comité no está desarrollando ni planificando un plan de reorganización. En cambio, su función es revisar cuidadosamente las inquietudes, prioridades y consideraciones compartidas por nuestra comunidad a través de encuestas y sesiones de aportes. El comité evaluará estos comentarios para ayudar al distrito a comprender mejor lo que es más importante para nuestros estudiantes, familias, personal y comunidad.

Agradecemos el tiempo, las perspectivas y el compromiso de todos los que forman parte de este comité mientras trabajamos juntos para considerar cuidadosamente el futuro de Lufkin ISD.

We are excited to have them join our team this spring as year-long residents and clinical interns as they take this important step in their journey to becoming an educator. Our community showed up in full force, filling the stands with gold, energy, and Panther pride. Thank you to everyone who came out to support our team and celebrate our incredible youth. The scoreboard may not have been in our favor, but the Panther spirit was on full display!

Aunque nuestros Panthers se quedaron cortos ante Port Arthur Memorial, ¡nuestra Noche Juvenil y el partido Gold Out fueron todo un éxito! Burley Primary was filled with smiles and special moments on Friday as we welcomed grandparents for our Grandparents Day lunch. Our students were excited to spend time with some of their favorite people, share a meal, and make memories they will treasure. Burley Primary estuvo lleno de sonrisas y momentos especiales el viernes mientras recibíamos a los abuelos para nuestro almuerzo del Día de los Abuelos.
