Earlier this month, Alex Driver, AT Coordinator/VI Teacher, received a grant from the Lufkin ISD Education Foundation to support innovative 3D printing projects that build access and engagement for students. We are excited to see the impact this will have across Deaf Education and beyond!



A principios de este mes, Alex Driver, Coordinadora de Tecnología Asistiva, recibió una subvención de la Fundación Educativa de Lufkin ISD para apoyar proyectos innovadores de impresión 3D que fomentan el acceso y la participación de los estudiantes. ¡Estamos emocionados de ver el impacto que esto tendrá en la Educación para Sordos y más allá!

Our students spent the last few days creating craft model ears while learning about the outer, middle, and inner ear! This hands-on activity helped students better understand how we hear while also showing off their creativity. We are so proud of their hard work and amazing models!



¡Nuestros estudiantes pasaron los últimos días creando modelos de oídos mientras aprendían sobre el oído externo, medio e interno! Esta actividad práctica les ayudó a comprender mejor cómo escuchamos y también les permitió mostrar su creatividad. ¡Estamos muy orgullosos de su gran trabajo y de sus increíbles proyectos!

Lufkin RDSPD students enjoyed our annual Pen Pal Picnic with the Nacogdoches RDSPD! Throughout the school year, students connected through letters as pen pals, building friendships and strengthening language skills along the way.

The year wrapped up with a fun day filled with language activities, food, laughter, and time together. We are thankful for the opportunity to help students connect, communicate, and create lasting memories!



¡Los estudiantes de Lufkin RDSPD disfrutaron de nuestro Picnic anual de Amigos por Correspondencia con el RDSPD de Nacogdoches! Durante el año escolar, los estudiantes se conectaron a través de cartas como amigos por correspondencia, creando amistades y fortaleciendo sus habilidades de lenguaje en el camino.

El año culminó con un divertido día lleno de actividades de lenguaje, comida, risas y tiempo juntos. ¡Estamos agradecidos por la oportunidad de ayudar a los estudiantes a conectarse, comunicarse y crear recuerdos duraderos!

We’re thankful to have the Stephen F. Austin State University Deaf Education Program nearby as a partner. Opportunities like this for our students to interact with college programs and other ASL users are so valuable.

Talking Hands Deaf Social was such a success this past weekend! 💜✨

We partnered with Lufkin High School RDSPD and Lufkin ASL Club to host an awesome silent social — and it did not disappoint. So much laughter, connection, signing, and community building all in one place.

We love seeing high school and college students come together to grow, learn, and just enjoy being in community. That’s what it’s all about. 🤟
