As always, it was another amazing weekend on the mats for GWC🖤💛
We kicked Saturday off with individuals and then 15U & HS Duals. Today was 8u, 10u, 12u and Girls Duals. We had teams in every single division our teams far exceeded our expectations!
Our HS team was lead by Coach Breighton Flores and Coach Trace Insalaco. They battled tough all day, with most of their matches coming down to just a few team points! While this is the only Genesis team that didn't place in the top 3 this weekend, it wasnt for lack of effort. Our HS dual team is an area that we've tried to increase our focus on and based on the last few tournaments, it looks like we are turning the corner!
Our 15U wrestled lights out, bringing home 1st Place!! ✨ 🏆️ This team was made up of a huge majority of South Ga kids. We especially appreciate the Richmond Hill Wrestling Club and Coach Vitello for helping lead this team and bringing some of his heavy hitters with him.
Our 12U team went to war and edged out a very tough Morris Fitness team to bring home another 1st Place 🏆 This entire team has been battling against each other all summer long, so it was really fun to have them work together for a change . Huge shoutout to our Florida friends for coming up. We wouldn't have wanted to do it without you! Coach Doc and Coach Ron were amazing as always and we want them in our corner every time!
Our 10U team is bringing home a well earned 2nd place 🥈Coach Cody Vance and Coach Joe rallied these kids together through some really tough matches. Their only loss was to a very tough Florida Scirpions team.
8U is what makes me most excited! We had so much interest, that we ended up building 2 8u teams. Jared Franklin (our 8U Commander in Chief 🫡) obviously built a team that was not to be reckoned with😅 But our 2nd team came in and surprised everybody! It's a very cool thing to have 2 teams in the top 3 and we are so incredibly proud of their efforts. Shoutout to Coach Evan, Coach Griffin and Coach Alfau for leading/herding all of these wild 8 year olds🙃
Saving the best for last...Always my absolute favorite. Our Girls Team! This team was so much fun! With girls teams, it doesn't matter where everybody comes from, by the end of the tournament, they are all family! These scrappy little jokers fought for a well earned 3rd place 🥉And more importantly, they rallied behind and lifted each other up the whole way!
Somebody always has something to say about our club, our teams, how we build etc. But all of that is just noise. Genesis Duals Teams aren't about any 1 club. It's about giving any kid from any club an opportunity to compete. But more importantly, an opportunity to become part of our family. At the end of the day, this is all bigger than wrestling. And the network of people that we have been able to cultivate is one that I wouldn't trade for anything. Great parents. Great kids. Great mat time. What more can you ask for?

And of course none of this would be possible without our team Moms. Whether it's April, Kristina, Maria or Allison...keeping everyone fed, medicated, hydrated and moving in the right directions or the 100 plus other moms cheering, hugging, filming and occasionally shouting at refs🙃 We couldn't do it without yall!
