Jump height reports one output from a countermovement jump. Review the countermovement, takeoff, first contact, contact timing, stance width, knees, hips, and trunk across the next few frames.

Save this checklist for your next jump session.

A load cell study clocked an elite judoka’s peak pull at 341 newtons, about 77 pounds. That is under half his own bodyweight. The pull never lifts anyone, it steers the opponent’s center of mass past the edge of his feet, and gravity does the throwing. Save this for your next pulling session.

Elite water polo players get their heads almost three feet above the water with zero ground contact, ever. The secret is backwards: kicking straight down makes you sink. 81% of vertical force comes from hip abduction, hip flexion range, and knee speed, so the feet sweep sideways and the water becomes the floor. Save this for your next lower body session.

A 2023 study compared 10 elite and 10 nonelite male judoka during an instrumented rubber tube seoi nage. The elite group averaged 341.1 N of peak pulling force and showed 36.0° more shoulder rotation and 38.2° more pelvis rotation.

Save the values for your next technique review.

These four checks cover single leg control, hinge mechanics, overhead squat position, and countermovement jump strategy. Use the same instructions, camera position, tested side, footwear, and environment each session.

Save this five-slide checklist for your next testing block.

Float is a flight-path result, not a speed label. In a 3D study of 12 elite players, the largest vertical-plane anticipation error in one indoor serve was 1.50 m, while release speed explained little of the horizontal float measures.

Save this for serve review: record the ball path after release, because a speed reading alone cannot show how much the trajectory departed from its expected path.

Source: Reiser et al., Frontiers in Sports and Active Living, 2020. Twelve athletes; 186 target-corridor serves analyzed from 288 attempts. The groups and equipment differed, release-speed ranges were narrow, spin and airflow were not measured, and the 1.50 m value was a single maximum, not a typical serve.

Does a changeup leave the same arm slot as a fastball?

Among 34 Division I pitchers, the pooled fastball category had a mean arm-slot angle of 59 degrees and the pooled changeup category averaged 62 degrees. The pairwise comparison was significant.

The angle was measured from global vertical to the shoulder-to-hand vector at release. That definition matters: the smaller fastball value represented a slightly more vertical arm orientation.

Fastballs combined four-seamers, two-seamers and cutters. Changeups included splitters. Treat the rounded group difference as a prompt to audit each pitcher's own release window.

Which listed position had the fastest sample mean in the NBA's 2025-26 Combine lane-agility table?

We analyzed prospects with one listed position and a recorded time. The derived means were PG 11.00, SG 11.04, SF 11.19, PF 11.36 and C 11.77 seconds. Lower is faster.

These are our sample means, not official NBA positional averages. The analysis kept 49 of 79 rows, excluded hybrid-position labels and did not test statistical or practical differences.

Save the ranking with its context attached: one combine, unequal samples and one analyst-defined inclusion rule.
