Kick off the School Year on the Right Trail!

Start the school year with a fun morning of fresh air, movement, and community! Join us on September 15 at 10:00 AM at the Oak Glen Preserve Loop in Yucaipa.

This is a great opportunity to get outside, connect with other Granite Mountain families, and kick off the new school year together. While you’re there, you’ll also have the opportunity to learn more about our athletics offerings and activities available to students!

A constitutional amendment moving through the Legislature would create an additional funding stream for public school students—but charter school students are not included.

Introduced by Senator Dave Cortese (D – San Jose), Senate Constitutional Amendment (SCA) 5 would establish a new Equalization Reserve Account in the General Fund, with the intent to place it on the ballot for voters to considers, perhaps as soon as November 2028.

Last week, CSDC’s Executive Director, Eric Premack (pictured above), testified in respectful opposition to SCA 5, underscoring how embedding this disparity directly into the state constitution would further exacerbate the unequal funding gap between students in traditional public schools and charter public schools.

CSDC’s Laura Kerr has more on SCA 5 in the latest CSDC Legislative Update—which is exclusively available to CSDC Member Schools and Authorizers:
