🏈 2026 Lucas Cubs Varsity Football Schedule

Friday night football is almost here, Cub Nation!

The 2026 varsity football season kicks off Saturday, August 22 as the Cubs travel to Steubenville to take on Steubenville Catholic Central.

Save the schedule and make plans to support the Cubs throughout the season, both at home and on the road. We are looking forward to another great fall of Lucas football and seeing our students, families, alumni, and community come together under the Friday night lights.

🏐 2026 Lucas Lady Cubs Volleyball Schedule

Lady Cubs volleyball is back!

The 2026 season gets underway Saturday, August 22 with varsity and JV tri matches, followed by a full schedule of conference and nonconference action throughout the fall.

📅 Save the schedule and make plans to support the Lady Cubs at home and on the road this season!

Be sure to join us for two special home matches in October:

🎀 October 5: Volley for the Cure Night vs. New London
💗 October 13: Senior Night vs. Bucyrus

We are excited to see our students, families, and community in the stands supporting the Lady Cubs throughout the season.

Today, we are proud to share This Is Lucas.

What makes Lucas special cannot be explained by one person or captured in a single story. It is found in our students, our staff, our families, our alumni, and the community that continues to support our schools.

Through the voices of the people who experience Lucas every day, This Is Lucas shares what it means to learn here, teach here, grow up here, and call this community home.

It is about the relationships built in our classrooms and hallways. The teachers who know their students as individuals. The opportunities our students have to learn, grow, compete, perform, and discover what they are capable of. And the community that continues to show up for one another.

📅 Lucas Cubs Athletic Calendar | August 17 through August 22

Lucas athletics are back!

Our high school and middle school teams get underway this week with volleyball and football action, including several opportunities to come out and support the Cubs at home.

🏐 Monday: MS Volleyball Scrimmage vs. Ashland Crestview

🏈 Tuesday: 7th and 8th Grade Football vs. Hopewell Loudon

🏐 Saturday: JV and Varsity Volleyball Tri Matches

🏐 Saturday: MS Volleyball vs. Carey

🏈 Saturday: Varsity Football at Steubenville Catholic Central

Lucas Local Schools is now accepting applications for a Bus Driver position for the 2026 to 2027 school year.

Help make a difference each day by providing safe and reliable transportation for our students. We are looking for dependable individuals who are committed to the safety and well being of the Lucas Local Schools community.

🧡 Lucas Alumni Spotlight: Bill McFarland, Class of 1970

Lucas Local Schools is proud to recognize Bill McFarland as part of our Alumni Spotlight series.

Bill’s story is rooted in family, hard work, education, service, and a lifelong connection to the Lucas community. From growing up on a small family farm on Tucker Road to a 39-year career in public education as a teacher, principal, and superintendent, Bill has carried the values he learned in Lucas throughout every chapter of his life.

After years away, Bill and his wife, Marilyn, returned home to Lucas, where he continues to serve the community through his involvement with the Lucas Community Center, Lucas Lions Club, Lucas Area Ministerial Association, Pleasant Valley Lutheran Church, Mid-Ohio Educational Service Center, and Pioneer Career and Technology Center.

Lucas Local Schools extends our heartfelt condolences to the Lexington Local Schools community following the unexpected passing of Coach and Administrator Andrew Saris.

Coach Saris made a lasting impact on countless students, athletes, colleagues, and families across our area through his leadership, compassion, and dedication to young people. His influence reached far beyond the field, and his legacy will continue through the many lives he touched.

We offer our deepest sympathy to the Saris family, Lexington students and staff, and all who are grieving this tremendous loss.
