Hello Friends,
I am currently conducting a funded study on the process of healing from infidelity. If you have any current or former clients who might be interested in participating, I appreciate if you would forward this information to them. Each participant will receive a $50 amazon gift card for participating.

Couple Healing from Infidelity Study
Dr. Stephen Fife is a professor at Texas Tech University who studies the process of healing from infidelity. He has received funding for a study on couples’ experiences of healing from infidelity. The purpose of the study is to better understand the process of healing from infidelity by interviewing individuals and couples who experienced infidelity and have experienced healing in their relationship. The focus of the interview is on your experience of the healing process, NOT the history or details of infidelity in your relationship. Dr. Fife is committed to protecting the confidentiality of participants and to create an interview environment that is safe for all involved. Below the eligibility criteria and what you would be asked to do if you participated in the study.

Are you eligible to participate?
At least 18 years-old
Experienced infidelity in your current relationship
Still together with your partner
Experienced some healing from the infidelity

What would be required of me if I participated?
Complete a brief online survey (5-10 minutes)
Participate in a confidential 45-60 minute interview. Once you complete the online survey, Dr. Fife will contact you to schedule the interview at a time that is convenient for you. Preferably, partners will be interviewed together, but if only one partner is interested in doing the interview, they can still participate.
Each participant who completes the survey and interview will be given a $50 Amazon gift card as compensation for their time (a total of $100 if participating as a couple).

Please click the following link if you are interested in participating:
You will be contacted by the research team to schedule the interview after you complete the online questionnaire.

Questions can be directed to Dr. Stephen Fife: [email protected]
Thank you for your interest in this research!

This study has been approved by the Protection of Human Subjects Committee at Texas Tech University.

Our students requested foundational training in child-focused intervention, so we invited Kelly Martin, MS, LPC, RPT-S, of The Playroom Lubbock to introduce them to the history, philosophy, and interventions of Play Therapy! Here’s a glimpse into the training. Now to develop the research to highlight the bridge between Symbolic-Experiential Family Therapy and utilizing play therapy! Time to next level!!

Highlight of the week, Zachary Trevino successfully defended his dissertation titled: Understanding the Therapeutic Experience of Latino Men: An Interpretive Phenomenological Analysis.

Children’s Behavioral Health Clinic 07/12/2021

Our program’s Children’s Behavioral Health Clinic at UMC continues to grow and develop. We have been able to treat hundreds of young clients and their families within this space and we anticipate that as the community becomes more aware of this resource that our client base will exponentially grow.

Because of this growth, the clinic is in desperate need of child-oriented therapeutic tools that could greatly enhance treatment and experiences in the therapy room. Tools such as sand trays, puppets, games, and other important items. To address these needs, our program in conjunction with College of Human Sciences - Texas Tech University has created a crowdfunding campaign for small, medium, or large contributions. Any bit helps!

If you are in a position to contribute, great! If not, simply sharing this post to your timeline can help tremendously.

The CMFT Program would like to send a huge CONGRATULATIONS and THANK YOU to our outstanding Clinic Director, Dr. Nicole Piland. She was one of 15 faculty member across the entire Texas Tech University system to be a Dimond Award Recipient.

The Dimond Award was developed to acknowledge the efforts of faculty members to go above and beyond in their teaching during the pandemic. Dr. Piland not only continued to be the stellar teacher, supervisor, therapist, advisor, and colleague as she always is but quickly transitioned TWO in person clinics to fully online teletherapy practices, provided access to EHR systems, moved payment to an online format, ensured students had required technology to provide services from quarantined locations, and trained our entire program in teletherapy services.

It is because of her efforts that our CMFT students have been able to accrue clinical service hours during their degree and the CMFT clinics have been able to continue to provide nearly 4,000 hours of reduced fee therapy services to clients across Texas. Thank you Dr. Piland for all that you do for our program and the community, and congratulations on a well deserved honor!
