Today marks the one-year anniversary of the passing of Kim Scott. Kim graduated from LCU in 1977. It was at his funeral where I learned that he received the “Viking Spirit Award”, an award voted on by his fellow teammates and coaches for personifying the spirit of his high school football team. Kim was this too for Lubbock Christian and the "BE BLUE LCU SPIRIT" radiated through and around him. There are so many great supporters of Lubbock Christian University. Some give much of their time, some of their talents, and some of their treasure. We extend endless gratitude to everyone who claims Lubbock Christian College/University in some capacity. Kim loved Lubbock Christian University in a big way. If I remember correctly, he never missed a Homecoming or MasterFollies show at LCU. I would often find Kim with grandkids at LCU basketball games on the weekend.

Kim had a humble spirit about him. It was a year or two after I worked at LCU that I kept seeing this guy at different LCU events. He was never out in front but was always visiting and telling stories with someone. Finally, I went over to Kim at the Sunday homecoming worship service and asked him to tell me his story. About an hour later and many stories, Kim and I were best friends and we never looked back from there.

Today, to remember our friend Kim Scott, I encourage you to text, call or write a former friend, classmate, professor at LCC/LCU. We are never guaranteed tomorrow and even though I know that Kim Scott has received his eternal reward, I sure would like to hug his neck today!

Happy Kim Scott Day everyone!

Blessings,
Raymond

Our Story

Mission - Lubbock Christian University is a Christ-centered, academic community of learners, transforming the hearts, minds, and hands of students for lives of purpose and service.

Vision - Lubbock Christian University will be a leading Christian University, known for its academic excellence and its commitment to faith that seeks understanding, where wisdom is pursued, vocation is discerned, and service is fostered.

Heritage of Faith - Lubbock Christian University was founded in 1957 by members of the Churches of Christ who came together to establish a Christian university on the South Plains of Texas for the purpose of preparing and equipping students for lives of Christian service. The university is committed to continuing to walk with, to serve, and to be sustained by that fellowship. We welcome and embrace all of our students who come to the university from different faith backgrounds and perspectives, each of them a precious creation of God. As part of a tradition that grew out of a deep commitment to Christian unity and the renewing power of the Word, our hope and prayer is that the university will be a force for reconciliation, consistent with the best instincts of our heritage.

Values - We seek to be authentically Christian, guided by our Christian faith in every dimension of our life as a community of higher learning.
