My single longest volunteer role —35 years — as ACO (Alumnae Contact Officer) for Gamma Phi Chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta ( formerly known as Permanent Alumnae Secretary). A word to the wise — don’t ever say yes to a volunteer role that has “permanent” in the title. Just kidding! It’s been a tremendous way to get to know Texas Tech Thetas from 1953 to the present.

Plus it’s a job that has changed with technology. When I accepted the role i was given three huge index card files - one maiden name, one married name and one in zip code order. Anytime I got an address update I would pull all three cards for a person and manually enter the new information on each one. Plus, I used to put a lot of letters in the mail to parents and friends trying to track down lost Thetas. Now everything is done with computer and social media.

If you are not receiving mail/email from Central Office you may be “lost.” Send me your updated information.
