Students from the Lubbock ISD Construction Trades program were hosted by Betenbough Homes for a luncheon with the West Texas Home Builders Association. Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC, and Construction students enjoyed networking with many builders and developers from the area. The keynote speaker was Senator Charles Perry, who took some time to encourage the students after the event. Special thanks to Betenbough Homes, the WTHBA, and Senator Perry for this memorable experience!

Amazing new alert!!‼️

Ms. Olden from the Byron Martin Advanced Technology Center has been chosen out of only 120 educators from across the United States to serve as a Fulbright Teacher (WOW!)

The Fulbright Teachers for Global Classrooms Program is a yearlong professional learning opportunity and short-term exchange for educators from the United States to develop skills to prepare students for a competitive global economy. The program helps bring an international perspective to schools through targeted training, experience abroad, and global collaboration.

Ms. Olden will go to either India, Peru, Senegal or Uruguay next summer. And to top things off, this will be the SECOND time Ms. Olden has received a Fulbright appointment. Her first experience sent her to Japan in 2002 (double WOW!). Lubbock ISD is incredibly lucky to have teachers like Ms. Olden in our CTE classrooms.

Thank you United Supermarkets Arena for spending time with our Sports Marketing teachers today! We loved getting a behind the scenes look at event logistics, concession stand and suite revenue, media planning, and booking. We can’t wait to apply what we learned into our marketing classes this year!

TEXAS FFA NEWS | Jerky of the Month: How Texas FFA Members Are Blending Food Science and Entrepreneurship

The Talkington FFA chapter in the Lubbock ISD Agristem program has found a flavorful way to blend food science education, entrepreneurship, and community engagement. Their student-operated “Jerky of the Month” program has quickly become one of the most talked-about initiatives in the school district; and it’s entirely led, produced and marketed by students.
