Recently at Quilting Inspirations and Sewing Instruction, I have felt the pressure of a couple of deadlines, one of which got relaxed yesterday. But I haven’t posted much about what’s going on. So here I am writing to get you caught up. I’m finishing the work on two quilts.
For one, all I needed to do is sew on the label and put the binding on. That’s my first task to finish tomorrow morning
For the other one— the giant project that has taken months to complete— I’ve finished making the label for the back. And then I I realized something important about putting the finishing touches on it. This colorful quilt has a double layer of batting, which means it’s extra thick. It’s thick enough that I need a slightly wider binding to fully enclose and secure the raw edges.
Moreover, I really wanted an orange binding with a bright blue pop of color (faux piping), but I didn’t think I had time for all the extra steps involved in making such a binding. However, I learned yesterday that the recipient is out of town and not in such a rush as I had thought.
Furthermore, this quilt deserves to have every bell and whistle I can possibly put onto it. Thus, I made the wider and extra-special binding that I really wanted to use in the first place. So finishing this monumental project with the label and special binding will be my project for tomorrow afternoon. After that, it’s time for the swamp music quilt!
