Quilting Inspirations and Sewing Instruction

Currently at Quilting Inspirations and Sewing Instruction, it’s Deep Clean/Reorganize/Purge Day! We’ve already made several discoveries 🤪 and commissioned two more Tshirt quilts from what we’ve found. So this endeavor is much like an archaeological expedition, and some of our discoveries will go on display.

I want a place for everything and everything in its place! The clutter and disorganization here is driving me nuts. 

Everybody knows that to accomplish this , you first have to make a giant mess with piles of stuff everywhere. But we are making progress and it feels good. Stay tuned for updates! 

Currently at QI&SI, Charlotte is putting the binding onto the vintage quilt she has enlarged. I’m beginning to arrange pieces for a large commemorative Tshirt quilt. All that embroidery I’ve been doing is about to be “unfurled.” Stay tuned…

Tonight at Quilting Inspirations and Sewing Instruction, it was “just” Sam and me— daughters were otherwise occupied. So Sam and I just worked on her big nine patch quilt. I did the embroidery for the center square, and we are very pleased with it. Layout is still troubling us, though. This is part of the quilt design process, though, and that’s what Sam wants to learn. It was a productive evening!

Lots of progress at Quilting Inspirations and Sewing Instruction today! Charlotte is making headway on enlarging this sweet vintage quilt. I’ve finished the repairs and binding on Chequita’s heirloom woolen quilt. It’s too heavy to hang on the wall, so these photos are the best I could do. We are pleased with the way it came out.

Currently at Quilting Inspirations and Sewing Instruction, it’s Vintage Quilt Day! Charlotte is preparing to enlarge a fabulous vintage quilt by putting on a wide border. I am halfway through putting the binding onto Chequita’s vintage quilt. And we are having an animated conversation about God’s overwhelming abundance and blessings. It has been a Great Day! 👋👍😁

Tonight at Quilting Inspirations and Sewing Instruction, my students made buttonholes for the first time! Once we had everybody’s machine figured out, they made this really fun hand towel to hang from the oven door. Everyone did a great job! 💥👏🎉

Yesterday at Quilting Inspirations and Sewing Instruction , Crystal actually made a quilt (top) in a day! 💥👍

As some of you know, I am a Quilt In a Day certified teacher. And it’s really rare when you can actually make one in a single day.

I will do the quilting on it and she will finish the binding… so it’s technically not really done in a single day, but hers is still a noteworthy accomplishment. 👏🎉

Currently at Quilting Inspirations and Sewing Instruction , Crystal is working on a patriotic quilt top and I am sewing some colorful patchwork units. It’s a nice laid-back kind of afternoon.

Currently at Quilting Inspirations and Sewing Instruction , Brooklyn is working on the last few blocks for a big patchwork quilt. I am working on the binding for Chequita’s quilt. All is well.

Currently at Quilting Inspirations and Sewing Instruction: Chequita’s vintage wool quilt is now trimmed and has thread tails buried… The wide binding is ready to go, and I am preparing the edge to receive the binding. Stay tuned!
