This morning at Quilting Inspirations and Sewing Instruction, Allison learned how to get started on a sewing machine! She (1) learned sewing machine vocabulary, anatomy, structure and function, (2) made some regular stitches AND decorative stitches, and (3) learned to wind a bobbin and thread the machine. ๐ฎ She even (4) finished a lavender-filled sachet bag!
We did that in three hours! ๐ฅ๐๐ WHEW! ๐ฅ
More importantly than that, she now knows that she is fully capable of using a sewing machine. She and her mother are probably gonna start sewing together, which warms my heart! ๐๐

Sam and I are back doing garment construction. She is making a pair of pants to fit her specific needs. Learning to alter patterns for a custom fit is always a great idea. Great job today!

๐คฃ I havenโt laughed so hard in a very long time. ๐ Tonight, when Sam and her daughters came in, I just roared with laughter. They came waltzing into the studio wearing these wild wigs. ๐คช
They called tonight โWig Out Night.โ And we DID wig out! We had the best time!!! ๐๐ฅ๐๐๐
More imp, we all accomplished a great deal. We finished a difficult project that has been a thorn in our side for three weeks. Both daughters got to use Gloria tonight for the first time. That was a BIG step for them! And they did a super job with her.
Sam put the dark purple border around her quilt top. Thatโs no small task. And she got it done from start to finish tonight. ๐ฏ
Good job, everyone! ๐๐๐ฅณ

This afternoon at Quilting Inspirations and Sewing Instruction, Max continued learning some of the fundamentals of threading a sewing machine, winding a bobbin, ๏ฟผ and troubleshooting poor stitch quality. He also learned to use a rotary cutter and ruler, worked with fusible webbing, tried a stitch in the ditch presser foot for the first time, and made this fabulous appliquรฉd sachet bag filled with dried lavender flowers. It was a great afternoon for both of us! ๐๐ฅ๐

Currently at Quilting Inspirations and Sewing Instruction, Iโm doing some โseamstress stuffโ with a pair of shortsโฆand sewing a rolled hem onto four sheer curtains that need to be shortened. Iโm also preparing to sell, possibly, two of my favorite larger quilts. They just need labels and binding. A BIG afternoon for me!

Crystal found some goodies from a collection of crafty stuff I no longer want. In addition, she got the binding made for HER fabulous patriotic quilt (which I finished quilting and trimmed this afternoon). ๐บ๐ธ๐๐
I got started sewing a new hem onto some curtains for Redeemed Boutique, and a good time was had by all!

Max started Sewing Basics 101 this afternoon. He came with enthusiasm, curiosity, and a strong drive to learn everything he can. He asked great questions and made lots of progress. Iโm very happy to have him as a student. This knowledge is important for him, given his strong desire to make a career in fashion design/merchandising! ๐๐๐
