We offer a Basic Fire Academy, many advanced TCFP certification classes, continuing education training, and an Associates Degree.
South Plains College Basic Fire Academy provides Texas Commission on Fire Protection (TCFP)-certified Basic Fire Suppression training, advanced TCFP certification classes such as Fire Officer, Wildland Firefighter, and Fire Instructor, and an Associate Degree in Fire Technology. Academy classes are held at Lubbock Fire Rescue's Training Complex; other classes and the office for our staff are located at the SPC Lubbock Center campus, located at 3907 Ave Q in Lubbock.

Students from the college and high school academies combined to complete the ignitable liquid fire portion of the course. Always a great experience being able to train at Lubbock Fire Rescue’s aircraft burn prop.

The 25/26 Dual Credit Fire Academy is in full swing with high school seniors from Lubbock ISD, Lubbock Cooper ISD, and Frenship ISD.
Know a junior in high school not interested in the traditional college route? Tell them to check out South Plains College Dual Credit Fire Academy where they can earn their fire training their senior year to be a certified structure firefighter.

This is GREAT news!
Good news from Austin: SB 2786, which would exempt first responders from the Texas Success Initiative entrance exam, as military veterans already are, and expedite firefighters' ability to earn college degrees, has passed in the House, 141-0, and is headed to the Governor's desk. Thanks for your leadership, Senator Brandon Creighton and Representative Stan Lambert. Here's more info on the path of the bill:
