As we closed our 2025-2026 academic year with a performance by the Texas Tech University Steel Drum Band "Apocalypso Now" at the 2026 International Society for Music Education Conference in Montreal, Canada on July 27, 2026, we are already hard at work and ready to welcome and welcome back everyone for the new 2026-2027 academic year in the percussion program at Texas Tech University. We have another great year planned full of wonderful music making and collaborative pedagogy-Stay Tuned!

Please help us welcome the following new students-undergraduate and graduate:

Undergraduate: Brevyn Ayala, Jacoreian Ballard, Khloe Bordayo, Gavhyn Corujo, Isaiah Galindo, Carter Haynes, Joseph Hernandez, Eli Martinez, Devon Moreno, Rene Osornio, John Skillin, and Eli Wells.

It continues to be a busy summer for the Texas Tech University Percussion Studio. After NCPP 2026, Dr. Holmes and Dr. Rogers enjoyed working with percussion campers at the Texas Tech Band and Orchestra Camp. Two campers will be Red Raiders this fall, Carter Haynes and Kase Rutherford. In addition to Carter and Kase, we look forward to welcoming other new undergraduate percussion students this fall: Eli Martinez, Isaiah Galindo, Gavhyn Corujo, Brevyn Ayala, Devon Moreno, Joseph Hernandez, Eli Wells, John Skillin, Jacoreian Ballard, Khloe Bordayo, and Rene Osornio. Also, we are excited to welcome two new DMA percussion students: Miles Wheeler and Cameron Shattuck!

Next week the Texas Tech University Steel Drum Band "Apocalypso Now" will return to campus for rehearsals on July 23 and July 24, 2026, then travel to Montreal, Canada to present a concert at the International Society for Music Education Conference(https://www.ismeworldconference.org/isme26/performance). "Apocalypso Now" members are excited to represent Texas Tech and the United States at this global conference. We cordially invite you to short, send-off concert on Friday, July 24, 2026, at 4:00 pm in the Texas Tech West Rehearsal Hall (Band Hall)!

The Texas Tech University Percussion Studio is still hard at work as we prepare to host the National Conference on Percussion Pedagogy on the Texas Tech University Campus from May 17-19, 2026. Therefore, we cordially invite you to attend the OPENING CONCERT of the conference on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at 7:00 pm in Hemmle Recital Hall featuring our Steel Drum Band "Apocalypso Now" and Percussion Chamber Groups.
