Drs. Dylan Schwilk and Nathan Gill from Texas Tech, together with Dr. Katharine Suding from the University of Colorado Boulder and Dr. Jon Henn from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, received a research award from the National Science Foundation to establish a network to help reduce grassland wildfire risk.
In collaboration with land managers, land owners, fire professionals and decision makers, the team will use prescribed fire and new data collection to develop and test methods for predicting fuels and fire risk across different climates, plant communities, and cultural fire contexts.
