In the spring of 1953, with the tireless efforts of John Harding, Silver Key became the Texas Epsilon Chapter of Phi Delta Theta founded on the three cardinal principles of friendship, sound learning, and rectitude. Texas Epsilon is proud to announce that we finished first in grades for the fall semester and won intramurals for 2018-2019 school year. In football, the A and B team competed against each other in the championship, in what was called the ‘Bill Dean Bowl’. We finished the fall semester with a 3.0. It was a great year and we are looking forward to next school year.

Each year the Texas Council of Child Welfare Board recognizes individuals and organizations who have made a significant impact on the lives of children in the Foster Care System.

Recent active and now alumni of the Texas Epsilon Chapter, Brock Walker, received the Community Resource Award presented by the TCCWB. The active members of the chapter assisted Brock every step of the way in this endeavor, and we are pleased to see the recognition for the hard work attributed to this project.

An awards ceremony will be held September 21, 2018 to recognize Brock and his mother, Linda Gail Walker for their commitments and contributions to the Foster Care System.

To Texas Tech University and Lubbock, Texas,

We regret the comments posted on social media that came from students at Texas Tech. Although no Phis were involved, we still feed the need to address this issue: The human tragedy that exists at the southern US border with the large number of illegal immigrants that want to come into the US for economic opportunities to simply sustain their survival is no laughing matter. It is shameful enough that the political institutions can not come together to have adult conversations to try to have effective policies that govern our border from security and compassion perspectives is problematic enough. However, the temptation to trivialize and satirize this controversy in such poor taste and inflammatory language is embarrassing to themselves, their families, their university and finally the Greek community around the country, and does not reflect our thoughts and attitudes. We at Texas Tech Phi Delt hope these comments are immediately withdrawn and heartfelt apologies expressed.

Respectfully,

Texas Epsilon partnered with SAE and FIJI to host a Dodgeball Tournament and Car Smash to raise money for the family of TTU Police Officer Floyd East Jr. who tragically lost his life earlier this month in the line of duty. All 3 chapters raised over $1600 total for the fallen officer’s family. God Bless all of our first responders.

Texas Epsilon has partnered with TTU SGA and South Plains Food Bank in order to raise money for Hurricane Harvey victims in the wake of this devastating storm that affected the Texas Gulf Coast. We ask that you please donate to these efforts as Texans continue to rebuild their lives in the aftermath of this storm. Any donation amount helps and is extremely appreciated. Please, make sure to put "Phi Delta Theta" as the organization you are donating on behalf of so we may keep track of our progress in this relief effort. Thank you all and God Bless.
