Today we celebrate Dr. Mary Frances Berry!

She is an influential historian, activist, lawyer, and author. She was an advocate for the people and served as a member of the US Commission on Civil Rights from 1980 - 2004. Her public service included work in three presidential administrations. She became the Geraldine R. Segal Professor of American Social Thought and Professor of History in 1987. Her legacy lives on through her scholarship.

Recently, news has spread that Texas is voting on a bill (HB 1006) to permanently remove Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) programs from public support and funding. Texas Tech University has a vast diverse culture with several students and organizations whom this will negatively affect.

BGSA formally invites you to participate in the discussion of how this bill may affect student services, relations, and education at TTU, April 6th, at 6 PM at the Black Cultural Center on campus.
