In honor of Earth day being this week, here are some breathtaking photos some of our Study Abroad Peer Advisors have taken during their travels of our beautiful earth! Let us know if you are interested in studying abroad!

SAPA Spotlight⭐️
Meet Allie, a Study Abroad Peer Advisor. She studied abroad in Dublin, Ireland. Allie is an Animal Science major.

“I went abroad to not only travel the world, but to experience what agriculture is like in other countries. I learned so much about other people’s values and just how much we take for granted on a day to day basis living in America. Looking back at it, if I didn’t take that leap of faith when I did, I never would have gotten the opportunity at all (because of COVID and my classification). To feed off of that, my biggest piece of advice would be to GO. Go abroad and see what the world has to offer. Take that leap of courage and step out of your comfort zone because it truly is a once in a lifetime experience and you won’t have a single regret. Life is short, do the dang thing!”

His office hours are Tuesday 1-3pm!

SAPA Spotlight⭐️
Meet Michael, a Study Abroad Peer Advisor and our recruitment officer. He studied abroad in Paris, France and is a Mechanical Engineering major.

“What I loved most about studying abroad was being able to spend time with my friends who were there with me while getting to explore Europe. I got consumed with the art in every city I went to and found a new love for new cities and art. It allowed me to appreciate how different lifestyles and cultures can open your mind to new experiences.”

His office hours are Monday 3-5PM!

SAPA Spotlight⭐️
Meet Leora, a Study Abroad Peer Advisor and our Treasurer. She studied abroad in Seville, Spain. Leora is a Nutrition major.

“I chose to study abroad to improve my Spanish, get out of my comfort zone, and immerse myself in another culture. I wanted to travel all over Europe and I got to finish my Spanish minor which was a great opportunity. My favorite things about Sevilla were the food, the atmosphere, and the beautiful city itself!”

Her office hours are Friday 4-5PM!

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone!

There are two ways to check out the study abroad fair:

Happy national study abroad day!!! ✈️Here’s what SAPA member, Michaela, had to say about study abroad:

“I studied abroad in Caen, France in the Spring of 2019, and I loved it! I wanted to study abroad because I knew it would help me improve my French language skills (I’m a French Major), and I knew it would be a time of personal growth. Also, I just really wanted to travel, explore new places, and experience a new culture. I specifically chose to study for a full semester because I knew it would give me time to fully immerse myself in the French culture and learning the language; also, a big part of my choice was that I could apply my TTU financial aid to the cost of my study abroad which made the experience more affordable. If you’re on the edge about studying abroad, I would say take the leap! Find somewhere that interests and excites you (but also where you can get credit:)) and look in to how you can make your study abroad happen!”

Meet Allie, one of our new SAPA members! Here’s what she had to say about studying abroad:
“Originally, I went to Dublin, Ireland to study in a country that was English-speaking and I knew there would be an agricultural influence for me to observe. After spending four months there and in Europe, I am so glad I got to absorb the cultural experiences I had. Overall I feel that I benefitted from simply growing as an individual in an unknown place as well as being able to converse and learn from others who do not have the same view points as me (an American). Some advice I would share to others is to let go of your fears. Before leaving and during the application process, I had so many nerves built up and was on edge about leaving everything and everybody I have ever known. I had to let myself be brave and be okay with stepping outside of my comfort zone. Once you learn how to do that, you will be able to have the experience of a lifetime, go places, and meet the people who will be in your life forever.” 📍✈️

Meet Kendall, one of our new SAPA members! 🤩🤩🌍📍
“Study abroad was a completely life changing experience full of laughter, tears, growth, but most importantly adventure. Pursuing the path less traveled can be a very daunting and scary thing but one small leap of faith has a way of completely flipping your world in all the right ways. I went to Prague, Czech Republic completely by myself for four months and it was the most exhilarating experience of my life. I now have memories and stories to last me a life time, friendships that are unbreakable, and a growth of individualism that has helped me break completely out of my shell. Sure there are things that aren’t all rainbows and sunshine while being abroad but the experience you get out of it far out ways the minor inconveniences. When in your life time will you ever get to go abroad for a long period of time for pleasure. I highly recommend anyone with a soul for adventure, a longing for opportunity, and a craving for difference step out and study abroad”

It’s time to meet our new SAPA members! All this week we will be posting about our new peer advisers🤩✈️
Here’s what Carla had to say about studying abroad:

“Why I went abroad:
I wanted to experience the world at a young age by myself to grow and to learn. As a Political Science and History major, I wanted to visit the countries that I hear and learn about in lectures.

I was able to meet the U.S. Ambassador to Czech Republic. I also met with diplomats from the U.S. Embassy in Czech Republic as well! I learned so much more about history and how things connected with one another.

Advice for students:
•Don't be afraid to step out of your comfort zone, I had the best time doing so!
•Pack VERY lightly! I had the mistake of packing 8 pairs of shoes and ended up using 3 of them haha.
•Make friends!! The people you will meet through your study abroad group will be the best friends you will ever have!
•PUT YOUR PHONE DOWN! Live in the moment, theres so much to take in and see”
