Alumni Spotlight: Byron Ashley, MFA Studio Art '25
Byron is currently completing a residency with Taos Ceramics Center, and is featured in an exhibition at the center that opened May 23rd and runs through May 31st.
He said that the program at Texas Tech University School of Art fostered a cross-pollination of media, where he began blending printmaking and ceramics to develop his artistic style.
Having recently completed a 2 day Screenprint Glaze workshop at Santa Fe Community College, Byron is very excited to announce he will be teaching both Glaze Chemistry and Intro Handbuilding at Santa Fe Community College in the fall!

Did you know?
Symbolizing the Light of Knowledge, the Texas Tech University Presidential Mace is the symbolic staff of the power and authority of the university.
It is constructed of lathed and molded bronze that has been rubbed with a layer of 24K gold. The school crest is presented on either side directly under the flame. Hand-rubbed black walnut has been used for the connecting shafts. The mace was designed by Texas Tech University School of Art Professor Robly A. Glover.
Professor Glover's artwork is on display throughout the United States and included in the permanent collections of the Art Institute of Chicago, The Yale Silver Collection, and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.

Lubbock, it’s art weekend!
The Lubbock Arts Festival is happening today and tomorrow at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center, and it’s absolutely worth stepping out for. Artists from all over the country, immersive installations right as you walk in, and so many pieces that make you stop mid-stride.
Make sure you swing by the booth, say hi to Carol Flueckiger, and cast your vote for your favorite student piece for the next Flower Power turbine design.
This year’s theme is “Bloom,” so expect florals, color, and a whole lot of creative energy woven throughout the space. Don’t miss the “New Floral” exhibit featuring Miriam Dubinsky and a garden-inspired installation by TCVPA.
April 18–19, Sat 10–6 | Sun 11–5, $7 (kids 12 & under free with paid adult)
Go soak it all in and support some incredible artists 🎨
