The Texas Tech Student Government Association represents the ideas and interests of the Texas Tech University student body. We develop personal relationships and cultivate partnerships with the student body, administration, faculty, staff and community. We encourage student involvement, and will provide opportunities to develop a lifetime relationship with Texas Tech University for each student to keep Texas Tech University at the forefront of higher education.

MEET EXEC!! 👆🏼 Serving as our Journal Clerk, Ryan Hess!

Ryan is a third-year student from Stephenville, Texas, seeking a dual degree in agricultural communications and media strategies with minors in public relations and political science. Along with SGA, Ryan is involved in President’s Select, Agri-Techsans, Agricultural Council, Civic Leadership Academy, and Public Relations Student Society of America. He also works in the TTU Office of the President as a student assistant.

Ryan is excited to serve the student body because “it’s important for all students to understand what their representatives are accomplishing. Through my behind-the-scenes role, I’m able to provide clear communication about the current proceedings of the 59th Session of the Student Senate.”

MEET EXEC!!👆🏼 Serving as our CHIEF OF STAFF, Preston Schmid!

Preston Schmid is currently a Junior Business Management Major from Lubbock, Texas. He currently serves as the Chief of Staff but has previously been associated with SGA since his first year as a member of the First-Year Leadership Association and served as an At-Large senator during his sophomore year.

Preston chose to pursue SGA and serve the executive branch because “it seemed like a great way to meet other students around campus and I chose to be on exec because I wanted to challenge myself and give back to Texas Tech any way possible.”

MEET EXEC!! 👆🏼Serving as our STUDENT BODY PRESIDENT, Joel M. Rivero!

Joel is a senior Political Science & Finance major from Midland, Texas. Along with SGA Joel is involved in Beta Upsilon Chi, Hispanic Student Society, Scovell Business Leadership Program, President's Select, & College of Arts & Sciences Ambassadors.

Joel is excited to serve the campus community because “as SGA, we get the privilege of directly serving students. Our job is to set up every student for success and truly represent the voices of all students. I love this job so much because I want every student at Texas Tech to find their home here and experience the culture and pride that makes Texas Tech so special."

Hunter is a 2L over at the school of law from Dallas, Texas. Along with SGA Hunter is involved in the Black Law Student Association and the Business Law Society.
 
Hunter is excited to serve the campus community because "as an undergraduate student at Texas Tech I was furnished with so many opportunities to grow both personally and professionally while representing the student body on a high level. I recognized that connecting with my peers and creating solutions to fix campus problems was a huge passion area for me. Naturally, I wanted to carry this passion into my career as a graduate student because I believe that Texas Tech has some of the best and brightest future professionals in the nation. I want to help ensure that all graduate students feel accommodated at Texas Tech and like they have a place and voice within our student body.”

MEET EXEC!! 👆🏼 Serving as our External Vice President, Kendall Toelle!

Kendall is a senior Chemistry major from Lubbock! Besides SGA, Kendall also serves as the president of Chi Omega and is a member of President’s Select.

Kendall chose to be involved in Student Government because of her love for this University and the Red Raider family and her passion to serve them! “Texas Tech has been so special to me and to be able to strive to make it even better for other students means so much to me! Wreck ‘em!”

MEET EXEC!! 👆🏼 Serving as our Internal Vice President and President of the Senate, Emilee K. Sanderson! 

Emilee is a junior Agricultural and Applied Economics and Genal Business Administration dual-degree student with a concentration in International Agribusiness and a minor in Agricultural Leadership. She is from Blackwell, Texas. Besides SGA, Emilee is involved in Kappa Alpha Theta, Davis College AgriTechsan’s, Student Agricultural Council, President’s Select, and Beta Gamma Sigma International Business Honor Society. 

Emilee is elated to serve Red Raiders because, “Being a Red Raider does not stop after 4 years, it’s a family we belong to forever. I am so grateful to know that I get the opportunity to serve students every day - an impact that will last far beyond my time on campus. I want to do everything in my power to ensure my peers have the experience of a lifetime as a Texas Tech student, just like I have.”

‼️Safety Walk is TONIGHT‼️
We will be walking around campus at night to determine areas where the lighting or walking path are not suitable for students. These findings will be reported to the Campus Exterior Lighting Committee for change and better upkeep! Come get a T-shirt, an SGA lantern, plus more!!
