We hope that you can join us for The Juggling Act: Managing Burnout, Time, & Work/Life Integration, a virtual session with Dr. Rebecca Pope-Ruark, author of Unraveling Faculty Burnout. This 90-minute session will focus on managing burnout by evaluating different areas of academic life.

The first 50 registered participants will receive a code to take the Maslach Burnout Inventory for Educators & the Areas of Work Life Survey. The results are personalized to measure burnout and 'what' in your work environment may contribute. Plus, the report provides suggestions for reducing burnout and taking positive steps to prevent it!

While it often has crucial implications for various real-world issues, scholarly work has difficulty reaching the wider public due to low readability and limited accessibility. We hope you can join us to learn more on Tuesday, March 5th for How to Make Scholarly Work Accessible: A Linguistic Perspective.

This talk reports on a research project exploring how applied linguists have reshaped the descriptions of their research in order to reach non-specialist stakeholders. The findings may shed light on what linguistic devices scholars can use to present their research in a more accessible manner.

We hope to see you at the 20th Annual Advancing Teaching and Learning Conference on Friday, February 9th! This virtual conference will offer two sessions focused on integrating artificial intelligence programs with assignments.

This year, we are excited to feature Dr. Laura Dumin, professor in English and Technical Writing at the University of Central Oklahoma. Dr. Dumin has been exploring the impact of generative AI on writing classrooms, runs a Facebook learning community to allow instructors to learn from each other, and enjoys talking with faculty about the opportunities for using AI in their own work and classrooms.

Are you looking to enhance mentoring relationships with your students? Join us for one of the two sessions of this Making the Most of Mentoring with Dr. Katherine Stewart! This virtual workshop will provide participants with strategies and tools for enhancing their mentoring relationships with students, preventing some common causes of conflict, and managing goals and expectations to promote students’ productivity and success.

Participants will be introduced to the concept of conflict as a mechanism to enhance trust within the mentoring relationship; this will serve as a brief introduction to the in-person workshop offered on November 10th at the TLPDC. The zoom workshops will include some time for discussion and application of workshop concepts to participants’ unique mentoring situations. Presented in partnership with the Graduate School.
