Honoring the Stars and Stripes!--and the Red Raider spirit ❤️🖤
This Flag Day, we stand proud in celebrating the symbol of FREEDOM and the community that brings us together. From our own university to coast to coast across our great U S of A, it’s a day to reflect on our country and its traditions, patriotism, and pride over the last 250 years.
Guns up for the RED, WHITE, and BLUE !

From our beginnings as Texas Technological College to the university we proudly know today, our name has evolved—but our spirit remains the same. ❤️🖤
As part of our *Traditions Through Time* campaign, we’re celebrating the rich history, enduring traditions, and generations of Red Raiders who have shaped our story. While names may change with time, our commitment to excellence, innovation, and community continues to define who we are.
Here’s to honoring the past, celebrating the present, and building the future—together.

April 27, 1972
During this week in 1972, Phase II of the entrance marker project at Texas Tech, sponsored by the Saddle Tramps, neared completion with the setting of the giant sunset red granite seal of the university on its base in front of the fountain at the Broadway entrance to the TTU campus.
At its placement in 1972, the stone was two feet thick, 12 feet in diameter, and weighed 37,500 pounds. At the time, it was the largest single stone ever produced by the Texas Granite Cooperation based out of Marble Falls, and the cost was $18,555 (in 1972 dollars).
