BREAKING: IPTX client Butch Martin has been exonerated by the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals after serving 24 years in prison for a crime he didn't commit.

Butch was convicted of three counts capital murder in 1999 for the deaths of his wife and children in a tragic house fire. He received three life sentences and was released on bond in March pending the Court of Criminal Appeals decision. The court’s ruling was based on evidence of significant flaws in the forensic and medical testimony at trial. Every expert to look at the case, including the fire Marshall of the State of Texas, has ruled that the fire was not intentional.

Butch, who has always maintained his innocence, said “I knew one day, I would get justice for me and my family and I am so happy that day has finally come.”

It's official! After 22 1/2 years at Tech Law and the Clinical Programs, I have decided to move forward into my next chapter in life "Retirement". Bittersweet as I look forward to retiring the end of May but will definitely miss everyone! It's been a great journey and have loved knowing so many wonderful students, faculty, and staff. I have enjoyed keeping up with Tech Law alumni and their accomplishments in life and the overwhelming number of successes making all of us proud to be a part of the Tech Law family.
