🎶Yesterday was a special day...

The University Symphony Orchestra had it's first concert of the season. It was an honor for the USO to be the featured ensemble for the grand re-opening of Hemmle Recital Hall. They performed Prangcharoen's "Maha Mantras" with Professor David Dees as saxophone soloist and Stravinsky's Petrushka (1947 version). In past years, the USO would have 30 hours of rehersal for a concert. This year with a newly created cycle of rehearsal/class times, these musicians only had 15 hours of practice together! Even with these new changes, the dedication, musicianship, and artisty from these students never fail. ❤️🖤

Not only was yesterday the grand re-opening, but it was our wonderful teacher and director, Maestro Lanfranco Marcelletti Jr's birthday! In the dress rehearsal, as he was expecting to hear the beginning of the Saxophone Concerto, the ensemble decided to give him something else... 🥳
