Our Advanced Floral Design students created a stunning ofrenda in celebration of Día de los Mu***os (Day of the Dead) — a tradition that honors and remembers loved ones who have passed. 💛
Students hand-made every element, from the tissue paper to make the colorful papel picado to over 1,000 coffee filters to make the flowers!🌼 Their creativity and respect for cultural artistry truly shine through in this beautiful display.

🌾Brown Elementary Career Day 🌾
Monterey FFA officers, representing each pathway highlighted some wonderful ag careers at their career day! In the next 50 years, we are going to need to produce 100% more food than we do today. Careers in agriculture involve science, technology, engineering and math, now more than ever!
It’s always a great day when students help inspire the next generation of agricultural leaders!

🥩 It was a fun week in Food Science 🥩
We launched our AgriSTEM “Jerky of the Month” subscription to LISD staff! We have plans to extend it to the public in the spring.
Each month, our students will trim, slice, marinate, and dehydrate a different flavor of beef jerky. Allowing them to gain hands-on experience processing a raw product and creating a desirable, high-value consumer end product.
The label is student designed through a cross-curricular callaboration with students in Ms. Olden’s Graphic Design Class at the Byron Martin Advanced Technology Center. Each month will feature a different students’ artwork!
For October, we went with a classic “Original”! Our students enjoyed learning more about this process and are excited to get working on next month’s jerky!

It’s been a great week for our students so far - some Lubbock High Officers attended a “Women in Ag” networking event over the weekend, Monterey Officers had a planning meeting, and some Talkington students competed at some different LDE contests! It’s fun seeing the work our students are putting in and the program they are helping build at AgriSTEM!
