When families read together, amazing things happen. Kids develop stronger language skills, better focus, and a love of learning that lasts well beyond the school years.

Ways to make it exciting:
🌈 Turn storytime into an adventure—use silly voices or act out scenes.
🧩 Start a family book club—pick a story and chat about it over dinner.
📌 Visit your library as a family and explore new genres or authors.

Reading isn’t just homework, it’s a superpower! Whether your child is just beginning school or gearing up to graduate, reading every day strengthens the brain like exercise strengthens muscles. It builds vocabulary, boosts focus, sparks imagination, and even helps with empathy by letting kids step into someone else’s shoes.

Did you know 99% of e-cigarettes sold in the U.S. contain ni****ne?

Ni****ne is highly addictive and can affect the developing brain, which continues to grow into the mid-20s. It can impact attention, learning, memory, and decision-making. As ni****ne wears off, it can also lead to cravings and feelings of anxiety, making it harder to quit, even for those who want to.

One of the best ways to help children make healthy choices is by having open, honest conversations about the facts. Understanding how ni****ne affects the brain can empower young people to make informed decisions for their health.

We’re excited to launch our new vending machines at Lower Lake High School, designed to help students get their school meals faster and more conveniently, with less waiting in line!

And don’t worry… the food hasn’t changed!
Students will still receive the same great meals we’ve been serving at the window—fresh, made daily, and prepared by our Child Nutrition team. The only difference is that now, students have another quick and convenient way to get their meal!

🥪 Breakfast & Lunch Options
🍎 Fruit
🥛 Milk
🥗 Vegetable
🍽️ Main Dish

These meals are part of our free reimbursable school meal program, and students simply use their lunch number to access their meal.

Our goal is simple: less waiting, more time to eat, and the same fresh meals our students know and enjoy!

We’re excited to bring this new option to our high school students! 🎉

The late summer heat is still going strong! ☀️

As we settle into the school routine, here is a quick, friendly reminder to help keep our students hydrated and energized during these warm days.

A few simple tips to make hydration easy for your family:
💧 Pack a Reusable Bottle: Tuck a filled water bottle into their backpack every morning so it's always handy for class and recess.

🍉 Send Water-Rich Snacks: Fruits and veggies like watermelon, strawberries, or cucumbers make great, refreshing lunchbox additions.

🐸 Encourage Frequent Sips: A quick chat before the bus arrives to remind them to drink up after PE or outdoor play goes a long way!

Let's work together to keep our school community cool, healthy, and ready to learn.
