๐ Wisdom Wednesdays: Proverbs 25โ27 Recap! โจโค๏ธ๐
We have reached week nine of our Wisdom Wednesdays summer series! We are just one week away from completing our journey through this incredible book of wisdom.
This past week, we dove into Proverbs 25โ27. This section contains proverbs of Solomon that were copied by the men of King Hezekiah, focusing heavily on humility, self-control, and the immense value of true, honest friendships. Here are the core takeaways:
Proverbs 25: This chapter warns us against promoting ourselves and highlights the beauty of humility. It also gives us a vivid image of self-control, stating that a person without self-control is like a city with broken-down wallsโcompletely defenseless. ๐ฐ๐ก๏ธ
Proverbs 26: A sharp, often humorous look at the behavior of fools, sluggards (lazy people), and gossips. It reminds us that just as charcoal keeps embers glowing and wood keeps a fire burning, a quarrelsome person keeps an argument going. ๐ชต๐ฅ
Proverbs 27: Home to some of the most famous verses on relationships. It reminds us that the wounds of a friend can be trusted, that we shouldn't boast about tomorrow, and that just as iron sharpens iron, friends are meant to sharpen one another. โ๏ธ๐ฅ
๐ "As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another." โ Proverbs 27:17
๐ฌ Let's Talk About It:
๐ Proverbs 27:17 talks about "iron sharpening iron." Who is someone in your life who challenges you, encourages you, and helps you grow into a wiser, better person? Give them a shoutout or share your thoughts in the comments! ๐
