📚 Join Lowell Portuguese Language School for a special visit with Portuguese author and illustrator Marco Taylor!

Known for his imaginative stories, beautiful illustrations, and creative pop-up books, Marco has eight books recommended by Portugal’s National Reading Plan. Our event will include a reading for children, offering a wonderful opportunity to spark their love of books while celebrating our Portuguese language and culture. 🇵🇹

TODAY IS THE DAY! 🇵🇹🇵🇹

Join us as we celebrate the 46th Annual Dia de Portugal in Lowell!

The parade begins at 6:00 PM at the Reds Club, 512 Central Street, and proceeds through downtown Lowell to City Hall for the annual flag raising ceremony.

Wear your Portuguese colors! 💚❤️Bring your flags! 🇵🇹Bring your family! 🧑‍🧑‍🧒‍🧒

For 46 years, our community has come together to celebrate our heritage, our language, and our culture. We look forward to seeing old friends, welcoming new faces, and filling downtown Lowell with Portuguese pride!

A special thank you goes out to two retired landscapers—better known to us as the husbands of our board members, Stephanie and Jamie—who planted the beautiful hortênsias that served as the centerpieces for Chá & Carinho!

It truly takes a community to make events like this possible, and we are grateful for every helping hand along the way!

Our inaugural Chá e Carinho this past Sunday was everything we hoped it would be and more!

It was truly special to see avós, netos, parents, and friends gathered together, sharing stories, laughter, and creating memories across generations. The joy in the room was a beautiful reminder of the importance of preserving our culture, traditions, and family connections.

A heartfelt thank you to St Anthony Parish for generously allowing us to use the Parish Hall. Thank you to Fernando of NuExquisite Events for donating the beautiful linens and helping create such a welcoming atmosphere. We are incredibly grateful to our very own teacher, Miss Jessica DaSilva of Tábua DaSilva, for the stunning charcuterie table, and to Senhora Rosa Santos for the fabulous desserts that everyone enjoyed!

Thank you as well to Rancho Folclorico de Peabody for their amazing interactive performance that brought so much energy and fun to the afternoon. We are grateful for all they do to preserve such an important part of our Portuguese culture and heritage while inspiring and including the next generation.

Most importantly, thank you to all of the families who joined us and helped make this first event such a tremendous success!

We had so much fun that we completely forgot to take photos! If you took any pictures during the event, please share them in the comments or send them to us—we would love to see them and preserve these wonderful memories.

Thank you all for making our inaugural Chá e Carinho such a success. We look forward to continuing this tradition for many years to come!

Seats are filling quickly for Chá e Carinho, and we cannot wait for this beautiful afternoon celebrating family, tradition, and community!

Join us on Sunday, May 31 at 3:00 PM in the Saint Anthony’s Church Hall for our inaugural Chá e Carinho — a special event created just for our LPLS and Saint Anthony’s CCD families.

This event is *FREE* for all LPLS students and Saint Anthony’s CCD students plus 2 guests!

We are especially excited to welcome Rancho Folclorico de Peabody, who will be joining us for a special interactive performance for our students and guests. This is such a unique opportunity for our children and families to experience Portuguese culture and tradition together in a fun and engaging way.

The afternoon will also include refreshments, tea, desserts, music, and meaningful time with the people who connect us to our Portuguese heritage.

Grandparents are especially cherished guests, but students may invite any special loved one to attend.

Space is limited and reservations are required. Once seats are filled, we will not be able to accommodate additional guests.

April 25th — Dia da Liberdade

Today we celebrate the Carnation Revolution, a defining moment in Portuguese history that restored democracy and freedom to Portugal.

At the Lowell Portuguese Language School, this day reminds us why language and culture matter. Through teaching Portuguese, we are preserving the stories, values, and identity that connect generations and keep our heritage alive.

Let us honor those who came before us by continuing to learn, speak, and celebrate the Portuguese language every day.
