🎉 Congratulations to our FY26 RSI Fund Awardees!
We're proud to recognize 17 UMass Lowell faculty (3 of them being from KCS) whose work is pushing boundaries — from quantum physics and coastal resilience to AI misinformation, coral probiotics, and the rhetoric of vasectomy. The Researchers and Scholars Investment Fund helps our faculty test bold ideas and grow their craft, and this year's cohort is proof of the incredible range of scholarship happening right here at UML.
Here's to the curiosity, creativity, and commitment that drives it all.

Big news from the KCS! Biology Assistant Professor Teresa Lee has been awarded a $1.1 million NSF CAREER grant to study epigenetics — exploring how the proteins that package our DNA are passed down from parent to child, and what that means for longevity and health.
But the science is only half the story. Part of the grant will go toward making research more accessible to ALL students — not just the ones who land a spot in a lab. Through new programs like SUNRISE and course-based research experiences, Dr. Lee is putting curiosity and discovery back into the undergraduate classroom.
"The idea is to put curiosity and wonder back into the classroom," she says. And honestly? We're here for it.
Congratulations, Dr. Lee! 👏
