DifferenceMaker DifferenceMaker helps expand students' understanding of how they can make a difference in the world.

The Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship will help students get the skills they need to make a difference in the community, the region and the world. This center offers students of all disciplines the chance to work together to develop innovative products, services and new businesses that make a difference. This center will allow students to apply their education through experiential learning and real-world situations before they graduate. Through this center, the student DifferenceMakers are supported and guided by faculty mentors, community leaders and successful entrepreneurs and business people.

Team Tuesday is BACK! 💙

Every Tuesday throughout October, we’ll be highlighting a DifferenceMaker team and sharing what they’ve been working on since participating in the program.

This week, we’re featuring Comprehension Clicker! Their real-time feedback system gives students a discreet way to communicate their level of understanding during class, helping instructors identify confusion and adjust lessons in the moment.

Over the summer, Comprehension Clicker completed its first full classroom pilot in a UMass Lowell Physics II course, with positive feedback from the instructor. The team is now working with Dr. Yanfen Li on a research publication based on the pilot and conducting follow-up interviews with participating students.

This fall, the team is preparing for its largest deployment yet: 70 devices in a UMass Lowell classroom used by more than 15 different course sections. They’re also developing the next version of their hardware and a new portable companion app.

Founder Jetrin Orenberg is also representing Comprehension Clicker in Pitch Lift, where he advanced past the first round and into the semifinals! 🎉
