Dear Cub Families,

Now that we have had several days of school, I want to remind everyone how important daily attendance is. Arriving before 7:30 and staying all day until 2:30 is important for our students. Please avoid checking in students late or checking out students early so that we can help your child achieve their fullest academic potential this school year.

If you have a 3rd, 4th, or 5th grade girl who may be interested in joining Girls On The Run, please be sure to scan the QR code on the flyer sent home this week to apply. (https://www.gotrgreaterclt.org/3rd-5th-grade-program-details) Membership will be selected through a lottery and if your child is selected, you will be able to pay the fee to join next month. Girls On The Run empowers girls, builds confidence, and strengthens relationships while combining goal setting with physical activity.

Dear Cub Families,

I have a few important reminders for this week.

First, now that the first few days are underway, it is very important that all families use the car rider line in the morning. Please do not park in a parking space and get out of your car to walk your child to the sidewalk. Stay in the morning drop-off line and say goodbye to your child at the unloading area. Pre-K arrival does not begin until after 7:30, when our K-5 arrival time is over. Getting our students into their daily routine is important and it starts at arrival.

Also, if your child is a bus rider, please be aware that our kindergarten students begin riding the bus on Monday. Pick-up times in the morning and drop-off times in the afternoon may be slightly impacted by this change. However, times should become consistent after the first few days. Please be patient with our drivers.

Whenever coming to pick up a child, always bring your photo ID or a school-issued car tag. You will always need a car tag for the car line and you will always need a photo ID to check out a student or to get a student if you forgot your car tag.

Finally, we welcome visitors for lunch if you ever want to eat with your child. Visits are limited to once per week due to our limited space. You may only eat with your child (friends of your child are not permitted to join you) and students must return to the classroom with their teacher and classmates. Please say goodbye in the cafeteria hallway so the class can continue with their day uninterrupted.

🎉 Big congratulations to our very own Mrs. Ballard! 🐾💙

We are so excited to celebrate Mrs. Ballard for being selected as a winner in The Carlee Cause Foundation’s Teacher & Their Pets Contest! She received a $250 gift certificate to The Teacher Box to help kick off the new school year, and was also surprised with a special gift package from Grace Animal Hospital! 🎁

Mrs. Ballard, thank you for the love, dedication, and joy you bring to our Cubs each and every day. We are so proud to have you as part of the Lowell Elementary family, and this recognition is so well deserved! 💙🐾

📞 Parents, you’ll receive a phone call the Sunday evening (8/9/26) before Orientation with your child’s teacher name. We are so excited to welcome our Cubs back and begin this new adventure together!

🎤🎶 Get ready for a night of music, laughter, and community fun! Join us on Thursday, July 23 at McCord Family Park for a family-friendly Music & Comedy Variety Show featuring local talent. Bring your lawn chairs, enjoy tasty treats, and help support Lowell Elementary and Holbrook Middle School with optional school supply or monetary donations for the upcoming school year.
