We are dedicated to the empowerment of girls and women, and helping improve the conditions in which they live. Growing up is serious business!

We believe every girl deserves the opportunity to grow up with champions who support and inspire her to be strong, smart and bold. We provide quality enrichment programs after school, during summer and holiday breaks, for girls between the ages of 5 and 18.

What an exciting day at Girls Inc. of Greater Lowell! 🎉

As we count down the final two weeks until our girls return to the Carol S. Duncan Center, a major milestone is underway: the temporary wall separating our 228 Worthen Street office space is finally coming down.

For the first time, all three historic Worthen Street buildings will be fully connected, nearly doubling our usable space and expanding opportunities for programs, impact, and accessibility for the girls and families we serve.

There is so much to look forward to in the days ahead, and we are deeply grateful to our community partners who welcomed us into their spaces during this journey. Your support made it possible for us to continue showing up for our girls when they needed us most.

As we prepare to celebrate our 110th anniversary in 2027, it feels especially meaningful to return home to Worthen Street. For generations, this campus has been a place where girls discover their strengths, build confidence, and create lasting connections. Now, with more space than ever before, our Worthen Street legacy continues, and the next chapter is just beginning.

Big milestone today! 🥳We celebrated the first two cohorts of our G.L.O.W. Up! pilot program as they received their completion stipends. Watching these young women grow in confidence, build new skills, and work toward their goals has been incredibly inspiring.

As they take the next steps on their journeys, we know they will continue to do amazing things. We are so proud of all they have accomplished and excited for all that lies ahead. Cheers to the next generation of Strong, Smart, and Bold leaders!

A special thank you to the City of Lowell's CDBG funding program and the Greater Lowell Community Foundation's Discretionary Grants Cycle for making this opportunity possible. Your investment is helping young people gain the tools, resources, and support they need to create brighter futures for themselves and their communities.

G.L.O.W. (Growth, Leadership, Opportunity, Workforce) Up! is a college and career readiness initiative for young women in Greater Lowell. Based on Girls Inc.'s Project Accelerate, it provides a support pipeline for those ages 16 to 24 transitioning from high school to postsecondary paths. By focusing on leadership, financial literacy, and professional mentorship, the program uses skill-building and paid experiential learning to dismantle economic barriers. G.L.O.W. Up! empowers participants to achieve higher education and high-impact careers, fostering a more diverse leadership landscape in the community.

A massive thank you to Sarah Scoville for working with our members to create a mural that they literally can “see” themselves in. Sarah used the silhouettes of members in our after school program to bring this vision to life.

Additionally, this work would not have been possible without funding support from the Greater Lowell Community Foundation Arts Elevate Grant. We cannot wait for our members to return at the end of this month. What a journey this has been - thank you to everyone for believing in our mission.
