We’re proud to celebrate a major milestone for the Exercise Science program at University of Massachusetts Lowell. It is now accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs upon the recommendation of the Committee on Accreditation for the Exercise Sciences (CoAES).

This achievement reflects the dedication of our faculty, staff, adminsitration, students, alumni, and stakeholders who continue to prepare future leaders in health, fitness, and clinical exercise science.

Importantly, this accreditation ensures that UMass Lowell graduates remain eligible to sit for ACSM certification exams beyond 2027 — helping provide a direct pathway to nationally recognized professional credentials.

Congratulations to everyone who contributed to this accomplishment and to the continued excellence of the program!

Calling all University of Massachusetts Lowell and alumni, current students, families, and supporters — this is an incredible opportunity to give back while taking part in a truly unique experience. The Joseph Dorsey Scholarship Fund is hosting a special fundraising auction featuring the chance to tour Jay Leno’s legendary garage, with proceeds directly supporting scholarships for students in UMass Lowell’s Doctor of Physical Therapy and Exercise Science programs. These scholarships help current and future students pursue careers in healthcare, rehabilitation, wellness, and human performance while easing the financial burden of graduate and undergraduate education. Whether you’re a proud alum, a current student, a parent, or someone who believes in supporting the next generation of healthcare professionals, your participation can make a meaningful impact! On May 1st we held our annual DPT Student Showcase which highlighted the experiences our Year 2 and Year 3 Doctor of Physical Therapy students have engaged in over the past year. The students' posters and presentations were fantastic! We also thank all of our clinical partners that attended the event and interacting with our students.

We were delighted to welcome a special guest speaker, Avi Golden, to our DPT program Thursday. Avi talked about his experience living with aphasia, his rehab journey, and the dozens of disability sports (including some extreme ones!) that he has tried. Thank you Avi!
