Restricted parking Saturday November 26.

The City of Lowell’s annual City of Lights Parade will take place on Saturday, November 26th beginning at 4:30 p.m.

The parade will launch from Jackson Street and proceed to Central and Merrimack Streets before ending at City Hall.

Downtown parking will be restricted with no parking allowed on Jackson Street after 10 a.m. on Saturday. Nov. 26th.

The parade route along Central and Merrimack Streets as well as Arcand Drive and French St. will also have restricted parking with no parking allowed after 1 p.m.

Free parking will be available at all City of Lowell downtown garages all day on Saturday, November 26th.

Neighborhood street sweeping begins this week. All neighborhoods are scheduled to have streets swept every other week through July.

The Board of Health has lifted the indoor mask requirement due to declining rates of COVID-19 transmission in the City. Masks will still be required in schools and City buildings.

Please continue to do your part to prevent the spread of COVID-19: get vaccinated, get boosted, and get tested if you have symptoms or have been exposed.

At Home COVID test kits available February 5

At-home tests are a quick and convenient tool to determine if you have COVID-19 and are likely to transmit the virus.

The City of Lowell has secured 30,000 at-home tests, and will distribute them to residents this Saturday from 9am-11am at 5 locations:

📍 Lowell Senior Center, 276 Broadway Street
📍 Daley Middle School, 150 Fleming Street
📍 Pyne Arts School, 145 Boylston Street
📍 Pawtucketville Memorial Elementary School, 425 W Meadow Road

All residents are eligible to receive 2 kits, containing 2 tests each. Proof of Lowell residency is required.

The City of Lowell will distribute free at-home COVID-19 test kits to residents on Saturday, December 18 from 8 AM - 12 PM at the following locations:

Robinson Middle School, 110 June Street
Lowell Department of Public Works, 1365 Middlesex Street
Lowell Senior Center, 276 Broadway Street

All Lowell residents are eligible to receive two test kits, which contain two tests each. Proof of Lowell residency in the form of a government issued ID or a current utility bill displaying a name and address will be required to obtain an allotment of tests.

No parking on Jackson Street starting at 10 AM on Saturday.

The Lord Overpass Redesign project is entering Phase 4 of construction this week which will significantly improve traffic flow through the area and allow for more turning options. Middlesex Street outbound will re-open during this phase.

Paving and prep work to transition to this phase will take place on Tuesday, November 23, which will require intermittent lane closures and detours. Please avoid traveling through this area on Tuesday if possible.

Voting by mail? DO IT BY TODAY!

If you plan to vote by mail in the 2021 Municipal Election, make sure to return your completed ballot as soon as possible. Ballots must be received by the Elections Office by 8pm on Election Day to be counted. Voters can hand deliver their ballot to the ballot drop box at the Merrimack St entrance of City Hall to ensure that it is received on time.
