Information sessions will be held at the Freshman Academy (40 Paige St.)Thursday August 13 from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. for parents and students whose last name starts with A-M and Thursday August 20 from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. for those whose last names begin with N-Z.

Next Thursday August 20, Wellpoint and the LPD will be giving away 300 backpacks filled with school supplies at Cawley Stadium - 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.

Families must wait until they receive their child’s school assignment before applying.

A new transportation application is required if:

Your child is moving from 4th to 5th grade — walking distance changes to 1.50 miles or greater to be eligible for transportation to middle school

Your child is entering kindergarten

There has been an address change filed with the Family Resource Center

There has been a change in daycare

Your child’s school assignment has changed

With hot weather in the forecast, the City of Lowell is expanding splash pad hours to help residents stay cool.

💦 Splash Pads
Beginning Wednesday, July 1, City splash pads will be open daily from 12:00PM - 6:00PM on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday this week. Splash pads were originally scheduled to operate on weekends only until July 4, but we'll begin daily openings early due to the anticipated heat.

Shedd Park - 453 Rogers St
O'Donnell Park - 1170 Gorham St
Armory Park - 50 Westford St
Mulligan Park - 89 Plain St

🏊 Pool Updates
• South Common Pool will open for the season on Wednesday, July 1
• McPherson Pool is anticipated to open on Monday, July 6. The delayed opening is due to a necessary equipment replacement.

Pickup Basketball Games

Dates: 6/24, 7/1, 7/8, 7/15, 7/29, and 8/5

Time: 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.

Eligibility: Lowell residents ages 12-20
