UMass Amherst Celebrates Extensive Renovation to the Flagship’s Marine Research Hub at Gloucester Marine Station | UMass Amherst A new outdoor education and research facility will be named the Ann-Margaret Ferrante Living Lab for Marine Science and Education after the late legislator.

Say hello to the five peregrine falcons that hatched on the roof of UMass Lowell’s Fox Hall!🐣

This year marks the 40th anniversary of the state’s peregrine banding and restoration efforts. The University works with wildlife biologists from the state Division of Fisheries and Wildlife and the Department of Transportation’s Wildlife and Endangered Species Unit to tag the birds with identification bands to monitor and protect them. The biologists visit UMass Lowell every year, where they retrieve the chicks from their nests and assess their health, tag them, and share information about their diet and habitat. The chicks are then safely returned to their nests atop Fox Hall an hour later, where they will remain until they fly to a new territory in August.

Monique Yoakim-Turk ’87, ’88 has had her eye on the future of medicine throughout her career. She does this by shepherding laboratory breakthroughs during the long and complex process that puts lifesaving and life-changing therapies into the hands of patients and their doctors. She has done this work in both academia and at major biotechnology firms.

Our partnership with UMass Lowell is all about mutual impact. From volunteering and mentoring to experiential learning, UML students consistently step up to support our youth while gaining invaluable leadership skills.

Accepting the Chancellor's Medal on behalf of the Club is Executive Director Joe Hungler. A former Club member himself, Joe has dedicated 15 years to leading our organization and expanding critical programs in STEM, the arts, and workforce readiness to help break cycles of generational poverty.
