I can’t think of a better forum to talk about the benefits of our growing innovation system in the Lowell Innovation Network Corridor (LINC) than yesterday's The Boston Globe Tech Innovation Summit.

UMass Lowell was a proud sponsor of the summit, and I was even more proud to talk about our vibrant tech community in Lowell on a panel with Frank Ricciardi of Weston & Sampson and Brandi Vann of Draper.

I’m so honored to be included among the list of tech innovators, influencers and leaders — and grateful for the recognition that our region’s tech ecosystem spreads beyond Cambridge and Boston and into Gateway Cities such as Lowell.

As chancellor this is my favorite time of year!

Congratulations to members of the Class of 2026 — recipients of 191 doctoral degrees, 1,514 master’s degrees, 2,530 bachelor’s degrees and 17 associate degrees awarded at UMass Lowell this weekend.

We’re so proud of you and your accomplishments!

Congratulations to UMass President Marty Meehan, whom we celebrated last weekend by renaming the building formerly known as University Crossing as the new Martin T. Meehan Student Center.

Marty’s inspiring career has been guided by a passion for public service, public higher education and creating opportunities for students. His legacy — as a University of Massachusetts president, congressman, UMass Lowell chancellor and alumnus — will inspire generations of students, faculty and staff to come.

Thanks to Lt. Governor Kim Driscoll for coming to UMass Lowell on Monday to help announce the launch of the Massachusetts Cooperative Education Initiative.

We were also thrilled to welcome Commissioner of Higher Education Noe Ortega, Education Secretary Stephen Zrike, Board of Higher Ed Chair Chris Gabrieli and the presidents of Bridgewater State University Framingham State University and the Massachusetts College of Art and Design.

We’re grateful to partners at the Massachusetts Department of Higher Education and the Massachusetts Business Alliance for Education as we work to expand co-op programs on public college and university campuses throughout the Commonwealth.

Our JUMP agreement with Middlesex Community College represents a leap forward for students and for the collaboration between our institutions.

The agreement I signed last week with MCC President Phil Sisson, MCC Provost Matthew Olson and UMass Lowell’s Interim Provost Noureddine Melikechi will ensure a seamless transition for students earning their associate degree at MCC who then continue their education at UMass Lowell .

It was the result of many people’s hard work — including Senior Vice Provost for Academic Affairs Julie Nash — over many years. But I know the impact will be well worth the effort for the hundreds of students who transfer from MCC to UMass Lowell each year.

I was honored to be recognized with Susu as a recipient of Embrace Boston's Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott King Award.

It was moving to be spotlighted with such an impressive group of community visionaries and champions — and even more so to receive this award from a group of inspiring leaders including Governor Maura Healey and Lt. Governor Kim Driscoll.

Thank you to Imari Paris Jeffries and the Embrace Boston team for this special recognition!

The talented scholars taking part in the Shah Academy for Leadership and Innovation are exemplary of so many qualities of our motivated, hard-working UMass Lowell students — and of the rewards that come with career-connected experience.

It was such a pleasure to celebrate the inaugural cohort of the Shah Academy and welcome an incoming group of engineering leaders. Thanks to Bhupen Shah ’92 and his wife, Ramika, for making this program possible.

It’s always great to talk about the promise and opportunity of the Lowell Innovation Network Corridor (LINC). Thanks to the Lowell City Council for the chance to give an update on LINC and its transformative benefits for our university, our students, our city and the commonwealth.

Partnerships are so important to LINC. We're grateful to partners and collaborators in the City of Lowell and elsewhere who are dedicated to bringing this vision to life.
