This week our Bushido Code word is Honor.
Honor is a core value that every karate student should strive to live by. In the dojo, honor means doing the right thing even when no one is watching, showing integrity in training, and treating instructors and fellow students with dignity. A student who lives with honor accepts victory with humility, handles defeat with grace, and always gives their best effort.
The Bushido Code teaches honor as one of the highest virtues of a martial artist. In everyday life, honor means being honest, keeping your promises, taking responsibility for your actions, and standing up for what is right. By practicing honor at home, at school, and in the community, karate students demonstrate that the true spirit of martial arts extends far beyond the dojo and into every aspect of their lives.
Honor is one of the most important principles of the Bushido Code and something every karate student should practice every day. Honor means being honest, taking responsibility for your actions, and doing what is right even when no one is watching. Karate teaches that true strength comes from good character, not just physical skill.
A real-life example of honor is returning a wallet you found instead of keeping the money inside. Even if no one would know, choosing to do the right thing shows integrity and demonstrates the values of Bushido both inside and outside the dojo.
