This was recently shared by a PEO sister.

This is the heart in front of Bill Reed Middle School. If you look on the back, you'll find a signature for Sybil, in her memory.

If you knew Miss Grabski personally, please share something about YOUR interactions with her. She was SO active until the macular degeneration began taking her eyesight. I suspect it was a result of all those outdoor p.e. classes and outdoor sports. Wear your sunglasses, softball players!

Another Loveland native, Joan Harris Fishburn, remembers when she kicked her p.e. teacher, Miss Grabski, in the shin during soccer. Joan said her teacher was very forgiving, despite the certain pain. Sybil and Joan later became dear P.E.O. sisters in Chapter L!

Sybil was invited and then initiated into P.E.O. in February, 1958. Sybil thought her future sisters had "changed their minds" when the guard, Helen Waddell, brought her into the room and then promptly escorted her out. Helen had forgotten a critical item, which she subsequently retrieved to continue the ceremony.

Sybil and Betty's photo was featured in 1990 on the front of a senior activities booklet put out by the City of Loveland.

"In 1982, Betty and I joined the Rocky Mountain Senior Games. I did archery and basketball. Betty loved the swimming meets, and we both won many medals.

"I was a Methodist, starting in the Cradle Roll and continuing until 1979 when the church divided, and we went to the Good Shepherd church for a few years, ending up eventually at the Faith Evangelical Presbyterian Church...

"In high school, I went to Pine Crest Summer Camp at Palmer Lake, north of Colorado Springs, and our Epworth League helped Bethel Hospital in Colorado Springs.

"I don't know that I made any great accomplishments during my life, but reaching my 90th birthday (was) an accomplishment in itself. I do hope I contributed to the lives of the students that I taught, and I did enjoy them so very much!"

"After college, I ended up living with two other girls in a house in Loveland. One of them was Betty Grewell. In 1947, we did a road trip and became good friends. After living for 16 years in apartments, we finally decided to have a house built, and we shared our lives at 819 (East) Kelly Drive, here in Loveland, for 47 years.

"We both enjoyed riding bicycles, and in 1956, we did a four-week bike trip in the New England area. This was preparatory for our eight-week, dream bike tour in 1957 to Europe, with the U.S. Hostel organization.

"It was a great experience! The trip crossing the Atlantic was on a student cruise ship, and it took 9 days, from Montreal to South Hampton, England. We peddled through Norway, Sweden, (and) Denmark, to (the) Netherlands, Belgium, a little of Germany, and into Paris, ending up at our depart destination, to come home. There were 11 in our group. Betty and I were the oldest, and the youngest was 18. What great memories we always had of that trip!."
