📘 Focused on Learning. Connected When It Matters. 📕
Thompson School District’s cell phone and personal technology device policy is designed to foster a supportive educational environment with fewer distractions for students. In general, once students enter a school building, their personal technology devices—including cell phones, smartwatches, tablets, laptops, cameras, and similar devices—must be put away and inaccessible unless a specific exception applies. Students at every grade level may only use personal devices when a teacher specifically authorizes them for instructional purposes or when required by an IEP, Section 504 Plan, medical need or emergency.
Elementary and Middle Schools
Students are generally not allowed to use personal devices at any point during the school day while on campus, including before school, passing periods, lunch, and after school.
More Engagement. Fewer Distractions.
Through this policy, district students will engage in an environment that is best suited to maximize learning and support. Benefits include:
➡️ Improved student learning and academic performance
➡️ A safer, more focused learning environment
➡️ Improved student well-being and social interaction
More information is located on the district’s Cell Phone and Personal Device Policy webpage: https://www.tsd.org/cellphones
If you have any questions, please contact your school’s front desk.
Thank you for your support and partnership.
