Winter season is in full swing for our extra-curricular ensembles! Congratulations to our JV Guard for increasing their placement by 6 spots, Varsity Guard for winning their second show in a row, and Indoor Percussion on earning 2nd place this past weekend. We can’t wait to see more amazing things from you this season! - KF

Congratulations to Willa P (Jazz 1) and Owen J (Wind Symphony, Marching Band, and Jazz 1) on their participation in the Colorado All-State Orchestra this weekend. We are so proud of them and excited to have them bring new information back to our ensembles! - KF

The biggest weekend of the year for our Large Ensemble program starts tomorrow. Meet our Symphonic Band Guest Conductor for the weekend! Dr. Christina Herman is an instructor of music at Colorado State University, where she teaches music education courses, conducts the CSU Concert Band, and serves as one of the program directors for the CSU Middle School Outreach Ensembles (MSOE) and Trying-on-Teaching programs. Prior to this appointment, she served as an associate instructor of music education at Indiana University, where she taught undergraduate music education courses, directed the Young Winds program, and conducted research with the IU Music and Mind Lab. - KF

It’s so exciting to welcome Dr. Belser to work with our Wind Symphony! Dr. Robert “Bob” Belser is a cornerstone of Wyoming’s musical heritage, having served as the Director of Bands at the University of Wyoming from 1995 until his retirement in 2023. A graduate of Central Missouri State University (B.M.E.), the University of Illinois (M.S.), and the University of Iowa (D.M.A.), Dr. Belser brought a wealth of expertise to Laramie, where he transformed the instrumental program into a regional powerhouse. During his nearly three-decade tenure, he led the UW Wind Symphony to national acclaim and expanded the Western Thunder Marching Band into a massive, 180-plus member ensemble. Beyond the university, he furthered the state’s musical reach as the conductor of the Wyoming Ambassadors of Music and the Laramie Municipal Band, leaving a legacy of excellence that earned him the 2004 Wyoming Bandmaster of the Year and the prestigious John P. Ellbogen Award for Meritorious Classroom Teaching. - KF

We are partnering with .band.co and .school to offer an extra-curricular Jazz program for LEMS students who play any band instrument, guitar, piano, and bass. We will have our first meeting in one week from 4:15-5:15pm. Tell all the LEMS musicians you know to be there! - KF
